Is this a bad TEAS V score???

Published

This is the first year the program I'm applying to is using the TEAS V and I'm a little confused by my score. I scored an overall 77.3% My initial reaction was that something in the 70's can't be a good score but I've heard some people say TEAS V scores are usually lower than the regular TEAS. Is that accurate? I've been trying to get a hold of the admissions adviser to get some info but haven't heard a response and in the meantime I'm going crazy wondering how I really did  On the plus side the program I'm applying to puts an emphasis on the math and reading portion and those are the two I did the best on and my GPA is a 3.6 so maybe it's not completely hopeless :uhoh3:

Wow Congrats Serenepeach! That is an awesome score! I take my exam this friday & I'm a little nervous!

Flutterbye67 or Serenepeach,

Does the Chem in the book reflect what is on the exam?

Thanks Misshopeful! I think the Chemistry in the book does a decent job of telling you the kinds of topics that will be on the exam. I only used the ATI guide and practice tests to study from (but I also just finished a Chemistry class this summer).

Hey

I wanted to ask you how you did so well on your exam. Congrats, that's amazing! I did well in the English and Science but I have to retake the math and reading. What's nice about the program I want to get into @ Adelphi Univeristy in NY is they have a certain passing score for each section, so I didn't pass the reading and math. My question though both times I took the ATI online practice exams and did well both times in the Reading and Math but when I got to the actual test, some of the questions were alot harder. Could you explain to me what strategies you took? Please let me know, I am retaking it the beginning of January and want to kick butt on those 2 sections, it's mostly the second half of the reading section that worries me. I mean I know there were 4 stories having to do with sleep walking, hibernation, migraines, and I think one more. How did you figure out the answer? did you read the questions first and then the story or did you read the story and then the questins, please help :) us future nurses or past nurses need to stick together. thanks!

Contact the schools you are interested in. Don't panic yet. Different schools have different criteria for passing the TEASV - My school does the proficient, advanced and exemplary for the TEAS. Proficient is in the 70's so if you have a great GPA, great track record as a student,no repeats and withdrawals, then that would be OK. The only way you are gonna know whats acceptable is to contact the school. Some schools put more emphasis on GPA than on the TEAS and other schools its the opposite.

Blah blah blah I scored a 99 and have a 3.8, I scored an 89 and have a 3.99. Same old same old bragging (and lying).

I don't think he was trying to be negative..I think the opposite. People who are constantly saying they have those scores are negative because even if they are true what does that help the op, other then make them feel bad about themselves? Also many people are probably telling their scores on different TEAS versions. 80 and up was acceptable at my school for version 4 but they lowered it a lot for version 5 because its harder.

I'm also saying this because I did the same after I took my test and reading everyones 4.0's and 90's TEAS scoresd made me feel so bad about my scores and feel like giving up and guess what???I got accepted into a competitive program on my first try, and I did not have a 4.0 and did not score in the 90's on my TEAS

Hi Mickey,

It's been a while since I took the test, but this is what I did to prepare for the TEAS V. I studied from the ATI study guide and the McGraw Hill Study guide. I also purchased the two ATI online practice tests. For the reading section, I would read the story first, then read the question. You'll probably need to refer back to the story a few times to answer the question. I would eliminate in my mind any obvious wrong answers. It usually comes down to two answer choices that are similar, so make sure you read the question carefully and choose the answer that best reflects what the question asks. Read carefully - I remember I missed several questions on the practice tests because I misread them. I don't remember any specific questions, but that was my thought process for the reading sections.

For the math, I don't really have any test-taking strategies. Just know your fractions (I remember there being a lot of those) - how to add, subtract, multiply and divide - and basic math operations. Good luck!!

Hi,

I'm taking my exam next Monday and I'm freaking out. My school goes by the composite score, does anyone know how that is figured out? I have called my school so many times and no one can explain it to me it's not the average of all four scores nor is it what I have to get in each section. I have to have a composite score of 45 to get accepted. PLEASE EXPLAIN this to me I'm FREAKING OUT ABOUT THIS EXAM:(

Thank you

composite score of 45 is supremely low imo don't worry you will score wayyy above that
