Is it bad that I got over failing a class in like 3 days?

Published

I was sad about it for a while, like leaving the cohort and being with a new one, the thought of people judging me for failing by like less than a point, and graduating a semester late which will probably feel anticlimactic than graduating in the spring but idk. I keep trying to lift my spirits up my telling myself that I'll most likely pass HCC1 next semester and already have a better understanding of it, the F didn't affect my GPA at all and I still have HOPE Scholarship and financial aid, and lastly I'm technically still in the Nursing Program but just graduating late and still graduating within my designated year, 2017! But idk, maybe I'm just overthinking/overreacting like always

I know 'like' is used commonly in colloquial speech. But, we need to write better than we speak.

Would you put 'um' or 'you know' in your writing? 'Like' is a filler word too.

You even used like in your title. I'm suspicious that your lack of basic English composition skills isn't helping you academically.

Lmao i didn't even over use the word "like" in this paragraph. Thanks for your unnecessary input bud. It was VERY much appreciated. Also, the way people type on the internet doesn't determine how you do academically. í ½í¸í ½í¸í ½í¸

So like how do you get an F and not have it affect your GPA?

Hopefully this is more helpful;) : there are 2 scenarios you are looking at.

Scenario 1) you got an extra point and ended up passing the class. You still struggled all the way up until graduation and are very unsure of if you will pass the NCLEX or not

Number 2) you failed one class. As a result you have to graduate a semester later. You also get an extra semester to work on clinical skills, build even more relationships, and learn all of the information you weren't very confident on.

Would you rather skid by with a passing and go into nursing, or be confident that you have all the knowledge and practice before the training wheels come off?

Is it bad that you got over it so quickly? That all depends. You may be a very determined individual who is flexible and has positive coping mechanisms or perhaps you are minimizing the situation. You are the only one who can answer this for yourself through self-reflection and your upcoming actions are the only real proof of your determination to succeed.

What is done, is done now. You must focus your outlook on the future now - futuremurse93 had a good outlook and advice. You should check out other forums of students who have gone through the same things, there are many posted here.

my GPA didn't go down as bad as I thought it would have. It's still above a 3.0.

There is no set time frame for how long someone should grieve a failed class. As long as you are aware of your pit falls and have an action plan to do better in the future then I say the sooner you look the future the better.

You could spend a month grieving over the wrong things - how your teachers were unfair yada yada and not learn a thing. So its not the time frame that matters. Recognizing failures as opportunities to improve is what matters.

As long as you recognize what you did wrong, and fix it, there is no reason to dwell on failing. It won't change anything at this point anyway.
