I applied for the May 2006 start and am wondering what to expect.
Thanks!
I am so sorry to hear that you did not get in. It seems like nursing schools are getting so competitive - its just ridiculous. It still stinks though! I'm sure I won't get in either. But that does not mean that you won't get into Rush's program. Also, just a suggestion, you might want to look at Saint Xavier (that is where I am at now) if you don't mind commuting. It's cheaper then Rush. Just a thought.
I applied to Rush's ABSN program and took the NET test - I didn't get in obviously that is why I am applying to Loyola. I got to the interview and test (which most people don't get to - they just get denied without it). I ordered the study guide that they recommended and it helped just to know what was on the exam and review some math concepts I was a little fuzzy on. Good luck to you. If you have any other questions let me know.
I'm waiting to hear back from another school in Colorado. If that falls through, my next option is Rush. If they all fall through...I don't know...maybe I chose the wrong field. But, it's really frustrating because I know I'd be a great nurse, and I guarantee I would've been at or near the top of my class at Loyola. Apparently they thought otherwise. Sorry, I just needed to vent a little bit.
Kathy,
I didn't think the NET test was that bad - reading comp. and math. It was a computerized exam. I got the website for the book from Rush's website it's: http://www.eriworld.net/index.asp . The book is really small (kind of expensive for what you get) but it just helped me feel better about what to expect going into it. It has a few practice tests also in the back. You don't find out what your score at Rush is afterwards- maybe you can call after but I'm not sure. Good luck - I hope everything works out for you.
Oh - and I didn't get in either. It's amazing, I can't imagine what they were looking for in their applicants. (sigh..) Oh well.

Hey you should try saint xavier, all you need to get into the nursing program is a 2.75gpa and they are a good school I just graduated from there in December, passed my boards the first time and when I was going on job interviews people only had good things to say about saint xavier nursing program. The only bad thing I heard was that their nursing students come out more book smart than clinically smart, but so what I will get the experience from the job, hey after all I am licensed.
Good Luck.

Thanks, Chi. The good news for you is that you do know where you'll be! That's great! I'm not upset anymore. Kind of amazing. But I knew there wasn't anything I could do about their decision. Now I'm focused on Rush. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I really don't want to wait around for another couple of years before I'm accepted!
I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks Gompers. I'm going to apply to Rush's 2 year (7Q) accelerated program. It starts in Sept. It may work out better since my son is in high school and I'll have more time to spend (and cart him around) with him!! The deadline is April 1st. Ack! My mom is going down with me next Wed for one of their informational meetings.
It's just going to suck going to school tomorrow and telling others I'm not in. I'll feel like a stupid idiot!! I know 3 others who applied to Loyola too. Oh well.
Rush wants the NET. Have you ever taken it??? I hope I get in. I have no Plan C. There's really no other good schools around.
Thanks for your support!!
