I don't know about their online program, but it looks good. My mom attended that school back in the late 80s. It was a tough program then. She was already over 50 and didn't care that it was a diploma program.
You are lucky that you have a clinical site in Philly. I would look into it for myself but there are no clinical sites anywhere near me.
It is also quite costly!
If you end up there, please post back on how you like it. I am curious about it, too. Good luck!

Linda,
I am thinking of doing there online program. I was going to apply to all the tradional programs in the area and go full time, but I got offered a teaching position at VCU (teaching dental radiology..I was a dental assistant for 7 years) and I couldnt refuse. So I am going back to work full time. I still want to pursue nursing but I need to do it at night or online. So I will be apllying after Chem this summer. Let me know if you find out anything. Good luck.

Hi There,
I amin my last semester at SRMC online program and I absolutely LOVE it. It is VERY hard but oh so worth it. If you are a dedicated and organized person and do well learning on your own then you will be fine. I have had experiences that other students have not gotten due to more time in different departments in the hospital. I would HIGHLY recomend it. I don't think the cost was too bad either I think total $13,000 if even that. I think that includes if you have to buy a pc and all that. Anyways it is ideal and I think it was totally worth the pain.

I just graduated from SSRMC online in May. It is very time consuming (as most traditional programs are I'm sure) and you MUST be motivated and ON TASK throughout the entire program. You can not slack at all! I will be more than happy to answer any questions that I can for you. We had 4 PA students that graduated in our group.

I was just wandering, what time were the clinicals, were they flexible, could you take them just in the mornings. Also after you take the pre reqs, how long does it take to finish the online program. One more thing, do you have to write a lot of papers and essays? Thanks.
Hi Tiff,
Clinicals are 2 days a week and it depends what pod you are in. They are either Tuesday and Wednesdays or Thursday and Fridays and they are all day. You HAVE to do them with everyone else on those particular days and times with your pod. It took 18 months to do the program and you went through summer. I started in Jan of 07 and graduated in August of 2008. I am now a RN YEAH:yeah:and loving it although very tired it is a tough job:bugeyes: I would not have done it any other way though. :bugeyes:You don't have to write alot of papers or essays or we didn't. There were some but not tons just a couple. Any other questions feel free to ask. I'd love to help you out if I can. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Do you remember the times that the clinicals were? Were they in the mornings or mornings and nights?
Hey,
They are like 630AM-3 or 4 in the afternoon. They leave the hospital floor at 230 but then you have to do what is called post clinical and that is just spend about an hour talking about your day.

i am hoping to attend the ONLINE program thru SRMC in fall of 2009, but i work M-F, 8-4:30pm.
will that be a problem?
are clinicals ONLY on weekdays or do you go on saturdays if you're in the distance learning program?
