Hello everyone! I know this is early to be talking about the fall semester 2015. I wanted to make this group for anyone that's applying for fall semester and those the are studying for NLN test. I have an A.A degree and have never take the NLN. So I am planning to make a study group so we can study to take the test before or in march 5 2015. I know when people study in groups stay more focus because we push each other or ask did you study this yet (motivation).I know IRSC will have free NLN study January to February 2015 but we can start NOW! :nurse: If you have any online study or book the help you with the NLN please share I have the NLN red book 3rd edition.Lets get together and study. Please let me know if you interested and have any idea how we can make this study group possible!Best of luck to everyone! :)

A titer test is a measure of antibodies in the blood, providing a check of disease immunity. The results of a titer test then allow a clinician to determine whether a vaccination is required.

A titer test involves a simple blood draw. The sample is analyzed, and results are returned within 24 to 72 hours.

Okay I am a little confused about what a titer is. I just went over the checklist again and my stomach dropped when I saw the titer part. I thought I was done! So we get the immunizations and then a titer is a separate test for each of them?

Okay so I guess my question is do we have to do a titer for every vaccination or at what point do we have to do one?

i have not started the nursing program but i do have a little knowledge on titers and the whole purpose of a titer is to prove you got your vaccinations, sometimes people cant prove that they got their shots so they have to get a titer to prove that they really did get their shots.

If you have your vaccines already and you can prove it then i don't know why you would need a titer, but again i am not in the program so i don't know the specifics or when you would need to get it sorry if this did not help you at all.

The only titer test required is for the HEP B.

You need to have all three immunizations done, and then the antibody test is done about a month afterward. You can get the blood work done at any walk-in clinic (call to make an appointment first). The good thing about the HEP B is that it was the only optional immunization. If you cannot get all three done and the antibody test.. you must sign the declination portion of your form to turn in to IRSC.

PM me if you have any questions.. I just went through all of this...

Do we have to take 1 or 2 TB tests?! :nailbiting:

Only one TB test is required. Go to a walk-in and get the PPD done. You get a small injection and it gets read two days later.

Anyone purchase their uniforms yet? I was hoping to get some suggestions about places other than the IRSC bookstore. Anywhere have better prices?

Did everyone get a flu shot? It is on the paper work but I thought I heard them say not to get it until told to in the meeting.

Seems like we're the only ones on this thread anymore.

I heard Perkins Medical Supply on US1 gives discounts to IRSC students. I'm sure we would have to show our school i.d. or something.

Haha.. Yeah, I noticed that.. Is that Perkins in Fort Pierce? I'm from Vero.

As far as the flu shot goes... They did say to wait until flu season this year.. I think in October.
