I'm debating on getting the Ipad Air for school. I love my MacBook Pro, but it's kinda heavy to lug it to school. My main concern is being able to take full blown handwritten notes on the Ipad. Ideally I'd like to be able to take handwritten notes and then add pictures to them as well. I'm not even sure if that's possible.
Good day:
ixchel, I use a cheap ($5.95 to $7.95) amHybrid stylus. It works rather well. I did test out the Adonit JotScript, and found it so noisy it would not work in the classroom. Reviews of Creigal (spelling) Ink were iffy... so the current one that looks good (just waiting for enough reviews and more production) is the Truglide Apex.
7237dallas, in so far as I know, the iPad Air has slightly more battery life than the mini; and I enjoy the larger surface for which to read and write. When I did my own homework as to which to purchase, the deciding factor was consumption (mini) vs. production (air). Most reviews share that if you are going to use an iPad for production (for me, notetaking is production) then get the Air otherwise the mini if you are going to be consuming (reading, surfing, and the like). It was tempting to get the mini, and there are fellow students who have one; though they mainly use a blue tooth keyboard and type vs. handwriting on it with a stylus. I do have a portable blue tooth keyboard (purchased for around $16); but I don't use it often.
Thank you.
pmabraham: Might you know whether the ipad (mini and/or air) is compatible with OneNote and Evernote (as the MacBook Pro is)? I have a MBP and have debated using one of these tools. By the way, I am awed by the notes you shared; they are nicely detailed, and I imagine that having them all in one electronic place without having to lug notebooks would be amazing!
Good day, secondlifen2b:
Evernote works on the iPad Air and Mini. I'm not sure about OneNote as I'm an Evernote user. Thank you for your kind words.
Thank you.
If it's shiny and has an Apple logo it's worth it. Always. And you need the newest one every single year. :)
And if you don't buy the newest one every single year, apple will phase yours out 2 years after you buy it and won't update the software for it anymore.
I am a diehard fan of apple but I can't tell you how much genuine rage this prompts. They've phased out my MacBook and two iPods so far. My husband's "new" iPad (3rd generation) already doesn't have the full functionality of my mini, which was purchased 4 months later. It wouldn't be such a kick in the groin if they didn't have elitist pricing.

Exactly. I am picky about handwriting and hate mine.
Anyways, I type faster than I write so Notability is an asset for me.
