Hi everyone! I just thought I'd start the new State forums off with an introduction thread. Please feel free to reply to this thread if you wish. Otherwise, feel free to start a new topic if you wish to discuss other topics that are local or state related. Enjoy!

Southern Regional is a pretty good hospital. I actually delivered my son there. I never actually worked in the hospital, but worked with doctors that do. The hospital is located on Upper Riverdale Rd. and all up and down that road is nothing but doctor's offices on one side of the road and houses on the other side. My experience I had in the L & D depart. was good. The nurses were very nice and most of the doctors were nice. I know of several of the doctors that come through. I don't know what the pay is. I feel that in this field of work (nursing) you are always under paid for the work you are responsible for doing.

I had always said if I decided to work in the hospital it would be in either L & D or the O.R.

If you think of any other questions, please feel free to email me.

Will you be living in the Riverdale area?

Hi to all:)

My name is Susan and I am currently attending North Metro Technical College in Acworth,GA. and am completing my core courses to get into the LPN program that they are starting in Jan. I just completed my entance exam and am 11th in the first round of test scores. They are giving the exam 2 seperate times

and will be accepting 23 for the first class. I am excited about the program because they will also have a bridge program for the ADN at this campus. I am hoping to complete both in 2yrs. Am I insane to believe that I can do this? Has anyone else done what I am trying to accomplish?

Thanks!

Susan

I'm just starting out - I hope to be starting prereqs at GSU (if they'll let me in!) in January and begin the BSN program in September 04. I have a 4 year degree in an unrelated field. I live in Atlanta, and hope to work in L&D after becoming an RN and then going on to being a CNM.

Hope y'all are well!

I am from Augusta as well. I am working at Walton Rehab and love it there. Hope to talk with everyone in this group.:) :)

Also I currently working on my BSN through University of Pheonix on line.

I have a friend looking for a job in Georgia. She knows she can find one easily since RNs generally have no problems, but she doesn't want to jump from job to job, not her style. . .Any insights on websites to go to. Have you heard of Georgia HealthWorks?

I live about 30W of Atlanta and I have been taking my Pre-reqs for my ASN. I would like to know with such a shortage (I work as a Staffing Coordinator for a Nursing Center) of nurses why are their not more programs fashioned for the working student? I know that teachers do not get paid enough but I just wonder if the Board of Nurses couldn't do something about this? Let me know what you think?

Great question. Their are a couple programs that are catering to working students. I will look into what they are and try to post the response, soon.

Lisasmom,

I am considering UOP online. Can you email me with what you think about the program? I am also looking at Florida Hospital College of Science (I think that's the name). Thanks
