How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.
Care to share?
Hi all, My name is Angela and I am currently an LPN student, second semester, graduating June 2004. I also work casual at the local Health Center as an SCA.
I am a 32 year old wife and mother to 3 kids, 13, 9, & 6. We also farm/ranch. I am so glad to know that I am not the only older student out there! Sounds like your lives are as hectic as mine!! I plan on entering a 4 yr RN program in 2004, when I am finished the LPN program. Nice to meet ya'll!
Hey there, I'm Shawna, 25, married 18 months and no kids. I am taking physiology, then microbio is next and then I can apply for the ADN program. I am used to getting A's but Physiology is killing me! My goal is to work as a civilian RN in an Army Hospital...granddad was a big Army hero in WWII but I never knew him, as he died in a plane crash coming home from the Europe theatre in 1945. Somehow I feel working in an Army hospital will bring me closer to him...I know, it sounds crazy but it's just something I have to do.
My hobbies include sailing, reading, being with my hubby, and just relaxing.
God Bless.
Hi, I am Brenda, I am 42, mother of 3 and grandma of 4. I am in my sophmore year of an Rn program and I am currently enjoying a weeks break!!! I have been an LPN for 14 years and decided it was time for me to move ahead. It has been a real challenge trying to manage my family, job and school but I know it will be worth it in the end. Keep Smiling.
Hello,
I am new to this and will be new to the nursing world as well. I have already graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology in 1999 and now I realize that I should have stuck with my instincts to be a nurse. I am 29, not married, no kids and currently working for a nonprofit as a Health Initiatives Director. I have all my prereqs except for Microbiology, which I will be taking in January and hopefully I will get accepted to a program in the Fall 2004. Need some help... would you recommend a BSN or an ADN program since I already have a B.S.?? I have been looking into an Accelerated BSN program but it's pretty expensive and I am not sure if it will make a big difference since I already have a B.S. and strong administration/work experience. I would appreciate any advice. :)
