Nursing Students General Students

Published

How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

Hi!

I am a second year (well in the fall I will be) ADN student at a college in a small little corner of the world in Alaska. It was a VERY challenging first year and hopefully the next year will go a little smother. It's nice to find a place like this to share my experiences with others!

Thanks!

Kelly

Hey everyone!

I am 25, newly married with no children and in the first semester of a BSN program. I have my BFA, which turned out to interest me about as much as watching grass grow. I really appreciate everyone sharing their helpful hints and experiences to the newbies. Trust me, we ARE listening!!

Here's hoping we all have an outstanding semester!

Hi, my name is Tammy S. (I see there is another Tammy that posted earlier). I am very happily married to a wonderful, supportive husband that is a great dad to our 2 beautiful boys, ages 5 and 3. I applied and was accepted to the nursing program in 1996, but my employer was not flexible at all, and finances kept me from quitting that job. So I put it off. Now, I have a job that is willing to work with my school schedule. I am almost finished with pre-req's; I am taking A&P II and Microbiology this summer. And if I get accepted again, I will start the ADN program in the fall. I actually already took A&P II in the summer of 1998, but it falls one semester short of being within the required 5 yr time frame. So... I am taking it again. I need the refresher anyway. But I am really anxious to get started with actual nursing classes!!! Good luck everyone!!!!!!!!

welcome to the board, tammy! determination, what a great attribute.

I'm a soon-to-be 29y/o married mother of three ( ages 9, 7, 2) will be starting my 2nd year of a two year ADN program. I'm really looking forward to May 2004 :roll Interested in hearing how truly frightening NCLEX will be and any tips on setting through it without having a meltdown.

Hi, my name is Christine. I'm 26 and not yet married, in a 3 yr relationship, so maybe one day...haha...yeah...

Oh well, anyways, I have no children yet so I guess I better do well... :) I've been accepted into our local ADN program, and I'm set to start this fall. I should (hopefully) be graduating in May 2005. I've decided to prepare myself by taking Nursing Dosage Calculations this summer as well as re-taking a Geology class I (rebelliously :smokin: ) failed 7 yrs ago to help repair my GPA. I've been lurking on these boards for a while and decided it was time to introduce myself!

Hi everyone, been a member here on the board for awhile, I am 29, no kids but have one of the best boyfriends on the face of the earth! I am finishing up my pre-reqs this summer with organic chem, microbiology, and english comp II. I start ADN program this fall and I can't wait! I was a former Navy hospital corpsman and while I don't forsee a major problem with my clinical skills, it is the paperwork stuff that terrifies me! Care plans and all that other fun stuff I had never have had to do. Wish me luck!

:p Michelle
