How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

I'm in my first year of a two-year BSN program and some of the demands seem inhuman.

Hi, I'm J and I am 24 years old and just got accepted to the RN program here in NC. I am enjoying reading through the different posts. I especially liked the post about what things students should have. Do PDA's really come in handy? Ok, off topic there. The program starts in the fall and I am extremely excited about it!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. My name is Michelle and live in Los Angeles (CA). I am 45 yo, married 27 yrs with 4 kids (adults now).....3 of them in college. I have always wanted to be a nurse and became a CNA in high school. While training to work as a medical assistant prior to nursing school, I became involved in pharmacy and became a technician. Most recently worked as a tech in a Nuclear Pharmacy and now am about to start a 13-mo LVN program. Since I have to pay for it myself I found a program that cost only $1900 and the state is gonna pay for my supplies (books, uniforms, shoes, etc.)

I do have a 10 wk pre-nursing course to take and I know my previous medical background will make my chances of getting into the program a cinch. I can't tell you how excited I am to finally do this, now that my kids are out of high school! :roll

Hi Everyone,

I am 38 years old, a mother of two. My daughter is 19 and my son is 16 (heaven help us and stay off the side walks :chuckle). My daughter is pregnant with our first grandchild and we are very excited.

I have been an LPN for 14 years. The first 12 spent working on a medical surgical floor and for the past two years I have been working in womens health. I have enjoyed it so much that I have finally chosen to return to school to get an ADN degree.

Currently I am in the middle of med-surge II and after maternal child in the fall I will graduate (yippe last year!).

Good Luck everyone!

I'm Vonda, 26 yr old single parent to 3.5 yr little boy. I'm in semester 5 of 5 in a BSN program. I will graduate in May (2006).

Hello everyone! I am getting ready in the next few months to start the LPN program. I am going to be 50 when I start. My daughter is married and away from home so this is the first chance I've had to do something for me! You all are so young..........is there anyone out there my age?

Hi, I'm Jessica. Just found out 2 days ago that I have been accepted to the BSN program at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am 29 but have a ton of college under my belt so hopefully it won't take all 4 years to graduate.

Hi, I am Ruby in Nashville, graduating in May 2006--if I can get the 160 question HESI passed. Two attempts so far. I am the non-traditional student going for a new career--after hairdressing, Navy, travel agent and stay at home mom for over 9 years. On my 18th year of marriage with a 15 yo son and 12 yo dau--all terrrific. Love this website and looking for anything to help me pass the HESI! I love being around nurses and can't wait to be one! Caring is what it is all about.
