How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Hello, my name is Serena and I've just decided to stop lurking and say hello. I'm in my first semester of a 2-year bachelor's in something else to RN to MSN program. I've moved cross country to start this program, and I love it. I have a boyfriend and two cats back at home, all of whom I miss terribly.

I've enjoyed reading the posts about clinicals and Foundations and skills check-offs, and I've just started clinicals, so I thought I'd better introduce myself before asking any questions!

Thank you all for being so supportive - this place seems wonderful.

Hello all! I am Alison, 31-yo wife and mother (dd-9, ds-3). I have been taking my pre-reqs for about a year and a half at night and working full-time as an NAC at a LTCF. I am currently enrolled in A&P1 and I will apply for the nursing program at the community college to start Spring Quarter 2003. I should graduate in December 2004 with my ADN.

My eventual goals are to become a nurse anesthetist, so I have quite a few years to go. While working on my BSN, I plan to work a year in med/surg, then on to ICU until acceptance into our local SMALL CRNA program. My husband, who is 41 and has been a huge support through my schooling, plans to retire when I get my CRNA license.

I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Alison

Hi, my name is Sam. I am 22. I have no childern unless you count the four legged furry kind. In that case I have 6 - 3 dogs and 3 cats. I am in my first semester of a 2 year RN program. I actually have been attempting to get my degree for 3 years now but since my husband is a Marine and we move a lot I end up having to take a lot of classes over. It very frustrating but in the end it will all be worth it. I have all my pre req's done so I am just working on the nursing stuff now.

Hi everyone!

My name is Rose, I'm 26, and I live in lovely western Washington. I have a BS in psychology, and I just finished my pre-reqs and am now impatiently waiting to hear if I've been accepted into an ADN program that will start in January. No idea of what I want to specialize in yet...it seems to change everyday! (Or everytime I watch the Discovery Health channel! :chuckle )

No kids yet...but I'm a devoted mom to my two mini dachshunds, Tessa and Theo.

It's great to meet you all, and makes me feel good to know there's people out there to turn to when nursing school starts to get rough! Best of luck to everyone!

Hi, I'm Susan, I'm 18 and from Tasmania.

I'm just about to finish my first year of my nursing degree and i can't wait for it to be over!!

Hi, I'm Hope--23 year old mother of no-one :p Wife to a great man, and starting my pre-reqs for the RN two-year program at my local college. I went to college for three years in Louisiana--almost got an art degree, so I guess I'll try to finish that!! I'll be the nurse with oil paint all over her scrubs ;)

I'm looking for nurses in the DFW area...my friend and I are starting the program together, and we'd LOVE someone to talk to about...well....everything :)

I'm Bev. I'm 31, man-less, kid-less and currently jobless. But the jobless thing will change eventually. I'm giving up on the kid thing, still a bit hopeful on the man thing.

I decided to become a nurse after a car accident. I was in the hospital for about 2-1/2 months and really got interested in nursing as a result. Of course, finding a program that didn't have a 12-mile-long waiting list was a bit of a problem, but I think I've just solved that one. Waiting to hear back, but the girl I talked to said that she didn't forsee a problem with me getting into the program that starts in August 2003, so I'm super-hopeful about all this!

My biggest struggle with the nursing thing has been trusting myself. In the car accident, I suffered some head trauma, and my memory was really bad for quite awhile. So, now I'm really paranoid that I'll forget something important, even though I've taught myself to write everything down. Not to mention, I had a moment that I describe as me getting my memory back. I had really lousy short-term memory, and one morning, while I was in the bathtub, I realized that I remembered all the things I had to do for that day. It probably seems small to most of you, but to me, it was the moment that I became "normal" again.

I'm really feeling like this might be my chance to help other patients who are like I was. I didn't have any nurses to explain my head injury to me, and I think that the doctors were more concerned about my orthopedic injuries than anything else. I did some web research after my accident, so much of what I know about my injuries, I taught myself. I'm lucky, because I knew how to teach myself, but there are people out there who are not as able as I was/am after my accident. My new mission is to help those people out.

Hi I am Teresa mom of 4 and expecting number 5 late April 2003. I have 3 boys ages 10, 6, & 3 and a girl 18 months. I am 29 and will be working on general ed classes till Jan 2004 when I start the ADN program.
