How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Hi, I have been a nurse for 20 years and now want to return to school for my BSN. I eventually want to attend CRNA school. I have worked critical care most of my career and I love it. My husband and I have 5 children ages 26,24,22,21 and 16. Good luck to all.:balloons:

Hi everyone, I have posted before but that was in the summer of last year and I haven't posted since. However I have been on here throughout this semester reading others thoughts and opinions. I am getting ready to start my second semester of nursing which I am very excited about. I'm a happily married 29 year old mother of one who is 7 years old. Right now I am in the process of trying to get hired as a nurse tech at one of the local hospitals. :) I look forward to us sharing the joys and woes of this journey together.

Hello to everyone, I'm 38, have 2 sons 7 and 16, manfriend (soon to be fiance), I've been an LPN for 8 yrs, has an AA in general studies and now I'm a junior in the RN BSN program

Hello! I am Natasha and I am a 33 year old prenursing student in San Antonio, TX, as of yesterday, when I paid for my first Anatomy and Physiology class at St. Phillips College. I am preparing to enroll for their LPN school this fall, which basically has open enrollment, the only prerequisites being you need your full series of shots, all previous college records (I have 1 year towards a chemistry associates under my belt) and an accuplacer test. I am taking the more in depth A&P courses this semester and next, so that I can get some momentum, lighten my fall and winter load next year, and hopefully be a little more ready for my LPN to ADN courses if I choose to do that when I complete the LPN school and test. I am very excited, as I have been wanting to go to nursing school for quite some time.

I have been lurking intermittently, as many of the google searches I run for different nursing topics come with subjects from here. Off to go read some more there is so much great info here...

[color=#c04080] the student nurse's prayer

lord: i know we go through this every day but please give me the knowledge as to why i actually wanted to go to nursing school. lord, give me the strength to make it through those boring three hour lectures without falling asleep. lord, please give me the patience to make it through twelve hour clinicals with instructors that can't just give you the right answer and on the same note, give the nurses the ability to remember what it was like to be a student and give us just a little more respect. lord, give me the endurance to read all the assigned readings and be able to remember it when i am taking a test with four right answers. lord, give my family and friends the ability to realize i really am on the edge of insanity. finally, lord, give me the vision to see that one day i will be a real nurse and i will never have to wear this ugly uniform again.:D

Hi, my name is Mary Lou and I am pretty new here. I have been reading for a few days now and can't stay away from this site. There is so much information here and everyone shares experiences. Just when you think you have heard it all... All of you have inspired me. After nearly 36 years of nursing I signed up this week to get my BSN. So, I start a new job and go back to school all at the same time, Heaven help me!

Hey MaryLou,

That is great! If you have thirty-six years experience in nursing how hard a challange can it be compared to what you have already experienced? You have got this one!You will do great!Congrads and best wishes.
