Hi Addy, welcome to the boards.

Getting your NA first is a good idea, if fact I believe all of the programs in the twin cities require it. It is a good way to get your feet wet and see if you really like nursing.

Where are you located in MN? The AD programs that I know of don't just accept LPN's. I am at Normandale and we have a bridge program for the LPN's so they attend class in the summer and join the second year students in the fall. Out of ~80 students I would say we have ~ 25 LPN's.

As far as what field you want to go in to, you may very well choose one of the three you listed. Be open minded in your clinicals, you may very well find something that just "feels right" to you.

Right now I am located in Albert lea, MN where I will get my NA. But I will be relocating to Alexandria, MN. In looking at some colleges there Fergus Falls and St. Cloud community colleges only offer ADn to already liscened LPNS, and those towns are each about an hour away. And Alexandria only has LPN. If you know of anything around there or anyone who lived their and what they did I would love to know. I was thinking of just choosing where I want to go then making the commute, but for some reason I have a feeling I would hate it!!

Some friends said to skip over NA, but I figured if I can't do that I shouldn't be a nurse and I am always up for new things!

Some basic facts, I'm from Minnesota and a 23 year old female!!

You can do it! I started taking pre-reg's while working in a grocery store! I then became a CNA later on during schoolwhich was great experience. I had zero medical experience and got straight A;'s in a competitive school.
