Intro Chem. VS. A&P1 - need advice

Published

Hello everyone,

I will begin taking my pre-req's in Aug. I'm trying to plan out my fall classes and can't decide which science class would be best to take first... Introductory Chemistry or Anatomy & Physiology I? Any advice from some of you who have already went through those classes would help so much.

I also plan on taking English Composition I, Beginning Algebra, & Intro to Computers. Do you think I am taking on too much to begin with?

TIA - Melissa

Are you taking your pre-reqs as an intensive summer course, or a regular length semester? English Comp, Algebra, and intro to comp are all fairly easy compared to A&P and Chem, but it all depends on how much time you have to take them and what else you have going on at the same time (work, kids, etc..)

And i just realized i never answered your original question (sorry!) I took A&P I before chemistry, only because thats the order in which the college offered it that year...but i dont think it would have made a difference to me if i had taken them the other way around

It will be during the fall, so it will be regular length classes. I have 3 teenagers and a disabled husband at home. Will be working part time.

It seems like you have a lot going on. I took A&P I and II before I took chem. I don't think it will really matter which one you take first. But, let me say that allthough cemistry wasn't easy, it was easier than anatomy, in my opinion. Anatomy is a LOT of memorization, especially A&P I. I think that was harder than APII.

Whatever you do, I wish you the best!

Take Chem First!, Lucky You I Have To Take Chem And Bio At The Same Time Next Semester

Thank you for the advice and encouragement! I was thinking Chem maybe a lil easier. I think I will choose Chem this time around , and save A&P to take with only one other class. Thanks again! Melissa

personally I say intro to chem because its just that an intro it will help minimally in AP and micro which you will need later, plus you will get it out of the way. AP to me was my favorite of the classes it will be something to look forward too hehehe. I took AP 1 and chem together, I liked chem ok but it was more work then enjoyable.

I just finished Winter Quarter in March, where I took A&P I and Chem I, as well as intro to Soc. It was very challenging, but I'm honestly glad to have them out of the way. If you really want to take one first, I'd take Chemistry. There's a small section that will help you with A&P
