Hey all,
I'm a new grad and currently work in a non nursing position in a hospital (for 3 years). I love it there, and have been applying to positions there also, but have yet to hear from the recruiter. I recently got invited to another hospital for an interview for my DREAM position. I KNOW for a FACT that one of the questions will be "I already see you're working for another hospital, why do you want to work here at XYZ?". How do I answer that? This place's mission/vision are very similar to the place where I work for. I'm completely stumped. If anyone has any advice, that would be great!!

"I want to review all potential career options in order to find a employer with similar goals as myself"
after you see this talk about minor differences between the two organizations.next discuss the passion that you have for the position they have open and your dedication to remain loyal to a employer as evidenced by your three year tenure at your current job

You pretty much answered your own question. Three reasons:
1. Your current position is not an RN position and you are anxious to begin your career. (You worked hard to become an RN, everyone understands that when we get to this point, we want to reap what we have sown!)
2. This is your DREAM job! (Do you have any idea how rare it is to get to interview for your dream job as a new grad? those of us who get that lucky don't need any other reason, we are passionate about what we want to do and getting a chance early in our career to actually do it is a blessing!)
3. "Your mission is a perfect match to my personal nursing theory"
'Nuff said! And best of luck!!

I agree with the above. It's ALWAYS good to keep your options open and interview at a variety of places! Early in your career is a great time to explore the different corporations, their vision, values, etc. I think it is a great idea to try a variety of options in your career. I wish somebody had told ME this early on.

@xsmashBSN_RN Hi! I read in another post you were interested in applying back in the Northern NJ area for nursing. I'm also a new grad and relocated to NJ. I was wondering if you got around to that plan? I'm wondering how the job market is since I only have my RN license for NY.
