I am still in shock. I received a letter yesterday that I did not get an interview from a school that interviewed me last year. I have taken a graduate course and got an A and I am currently enrolled in class. I have returned to ICU to update my skills and my undergrad GPA is 3.8. How did I get less qualified in the last year?

I'm sorry for your news.
What do you have to lose if you call and ask? I would. That just smells funny...

i agree. maybe you're missing something they are looking for, and before you focus your energy on them again, find out why you didn't get in. it may be something you cannot change (what, i can't imagine, if your gpa is high). if so, look somewhere else. there's plenty of schools out there :)

Maggie has good advice. I would call the Program director and review your application and credentials and ask how you can make your application more competitive.
You should also actively pursue entrance into other programs.

I know of schools who only interview once. If you are not accepted, you may still be considered the next year, but they do not re-interview.
You might want to be sure your lack of interview means you are out of the running, or if it just means they are using your last year's interview.

Send a letter to the director and ask for accepted vs not accepted list and reasons under the states "open records act". They will have so many days to respond. Could be international students, specific demographic population or hard cases that are guarenteed seats they are "saving"> Stay on it until you get some answers..To work that hard and maintain an GPA like that....they owe you an reply and if it is a state funded school, they are accountable to you as a taxpayer.....Good luck

Before jumping off the deep end- contact the program. Your GPA is not the only factor weighed. Many programs weigh the GRE scores or years of experience or specific units and/or hospitals your experience is from or other factors. The size and qualifications of this years applicant pool may have a bearing as to why you didn't get a interview this year. Assuming that because you had an interview last year means you would get one this years is a fallacy. The weights of particular factors may have changed, the number and qualifications of the applicants applying this year may exceed last years, could be something else. I would however always recommend that you never put all your "eggs" in one basket and apply to more than one program since each program is different and what each one is specifically looking for varies.

1. call the program and ask, I have a couple of CRNA/SRNA's tell me they got a "mixed up" letter.
2. apply to other programs, different programs have different ideas
something is not matching up

I would check with the school for reasons why you have not gotten an acceptance letter. If your situation is the type that you can move, increase your odds by applying to other programs. Just make sure you apply to those that you exceed their minimum requirements. Good luck.

Keep trying, do not get discouraged . It took me 3 years to get in. call the program director , I did not do that because of stubborness. don't make my mistake. Apply to other programs outside your area. Work on yourself, and make yourself happy, and succesful, that will help you get in.
Good Luck

Thanks for the encouragement as I am getting really down about it and need some positive encouragement. It is just frustrating when I know they offered a position to someone with a lower GPA and MAT score but as many have said many factors play into the process and the competition is tuff.
