Hi all,
I am graduating this May, and I have just received word that I will have an interview at Duke University Hospital next week. I was wondering if anyone had any interview tips for me? This is my very first interview (besides a life guarding job) so I need all the help I can get!
Thanks so much to everyone who replies!
Hi congrats on your interview! I have a few timeline questions if you don't mind because I am currently waiting. When did you send in your initial resume/application? I applied on March 4th and my submission status still says "open" and "resume received by Duke Human Resources." It has not changed at all like many here have said "under review" or "fwd to hiring managers" How long before you saw a status change? Also how long after that status change did you get an email to interview. It is just the waiting game, and not knowing that is so killer! When you applied did you just select critical care as one of your two options and they fwd your resume to each of the critical care units hiring?
Last but not least when you sign in to check the status what is you requisition number?
I ask because when applying for the nurse new graduate program I only got to choose 2 general fields and I chose critical care and emergency. I am very interested in Neurology ICU because it is where I did my preceptorship at another hospital. Again good luck, and thanks for any help!
Thanks! I sent in my initial application on 2/25, which I believe was the day it opened or the day after it opened. I got an e-mail to schedule an interview on 3/13. I'm not sure if this happens to everyone, but I was contacted to interview BEFORE I was even notified that my app was forwarded to the manager. So if I were you I wouldn't pay TOO much attention to the status. Unfortunately, it is just the waiting game. But don't give up hope!
I also only had the option to choose 2 general fields, and not specific units. My first choice was critical care. I think they saw in my resume that I had preceptorships in the Neuro ICU and Surgical Stepdown and kind of combined them into Neurosurgery ICU.
I don't know exactly what the requisition number means, but mine is 100022014.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
I don't know much about neuro, I do know that 8 east is in the new DMP and is supposed to be the bomb to work in. I am in Duke North, which is the older part (not the original pat-Duke South where all the clinics are). If you have some experience they will love you. I did a shadow interview.
ConzRN-I got my phone call before the website caught up. I had applied for a few positions and they all said "sent to hiring manager" even after I had been offered a job. Also, if you don't hear right away, it is ok to call. My HR person had gone on leave before calling me and no one got the memo to call and offer me a job () I was bummed and I called to find out I had a job.
