I am thinking about doing a Masters in acute care NP here in the USA.

Of course they ask for transcripts for all training and ,whilst I don't think it's that important as was pre-project 2000 and the core curriculum so didn't give any academic points, I wondered if anyone had been succesful in getting a transcript for an ENB course that was pre P2000?

NMC says they don't have them or provide them so I guess that's it. Ridiculous really.

I havent tried, but to be honest getting my original transcript was hard enough, because like you it was pre-2000.

The school of nursing had long since disappeared, and its role transferred to a local university. It took 11 months to find out where the archive was and obtain my transcript, and even then it was incomplete. I eventually also got a summary from the NMC as well, (terrible blurred photocopy), and matched the two up. The uni holding the archive was then able to then produce a transcript for me, which was accepted by NCLEX.

Almost one year of my life spent trying to prove what I did during 3 years of training!

Yes same for me back in 2006. My school of nursing was gone but I was lucky that the first uni I tried gave me what he called "a general transcript based on my year of training.Luckily he emailed me a copy first as they had Ob/Gyn together.

It's crazy that it's so hard to get transcripts for pre 2000 and seemingly impossible to get ENB transcript

Beggars belief. I once needed proof of my years of practice to get the right salary scale with a new employer, and the NMC apparently don't have any old UKCC records. How can they not have access to the records of the organisation they replaced? Did years of UKCC (and GNC before them) records just get slung in the bin?

Did you try contacting the University that now covers the hospital(s) where you trained ?

I trained at a hospital shool of nursing starting in the early 1900s pre project 2000. I did get my transcripts from the university that has replaced my old system of training but it did take about a year and several attempts before getting a proper breakdown. I would also advise using CGFNS from the start as initially I just asked the BON to evaluate my transcripts but they wanted more info. Although I resent the cost of CGFNS it did get the job done and is accepted in most states.

I am trying to get proof of my Bachelors degree too so I can go on and do my masters!

It's like pulling teeth

Are you talking about your basic training transcripts for credential evaluation which is required for visa screen and ATT for NCLEX or getting your other qualifications evaluated?

I have my license here in the US, but want to get transcripts of things like C&G 730 (1991), ENB anesthetic and recovery nursing (1989) and my Adv Dip in Health science research methods from 1997, which was 90 points at level 6 (is that Bachelors level?)

Just before I came out here I also comlpleted an 9 month long advanced clinical assessment course which was at our local hospital, but had been validated by the local university and carried 70 points at Masters level.

I know that I can get a basic transcript from C&G and probably for the ADV DIP and CLINICAL ASSESSMENT COURSE, just ENB that's really a problem.

Will the CGFNS look at things like this and evaluate them and give an equivalency?

I know there are other agencies here in the US (WES being one of them) that immigration attorneys use.

Maybe it's better to wait until I find a Masters I want (can afford!) to do and then let them evaluate my courses.

I thought that I might be able to get some credits towards a Masters acute care NP course for the adv' clinical assessment and research course.

Very difficult as the system is so different here, and frustrating that pre core curriculum courses like ENBs ,730 don't give any academic points in the UK.

I did the 998, the research and development course, critical care course all ENB this gave me 90 credits towards my batchelors degree then I did a full time Batchelors and I am worried that I cannot get credits for these courses I did pre degree and will have to repeat over here.

Surely if they gave you credits for your Bachelors then they should be on a transcript for your bachelors-although I see you're having problems getting that!

It seems that the record keeping at some of the universiities is very poor, and even worse at the NMC.

They don't seem to appreciate just how important these transcripts are.

Hi, I need to get a transcript of my ENB100 Adult ICU Course from 1990.
Any ideas where to start the School of Nursing does not exist anymore?

Many thanks

Two options.

Find out which university the school of nursing moved to; they will have an archive.

Or second choice, you might find it at the NMC.

I've done both previously, both are slow and will only have poor photocopies, but they can at least send it direct to verify that its authentic.

Which school of nursing?
