RNABC registration

I am a nurse graduated in 1979 in Hong Kong. I have registered with Singapore nursing board, NY nursing board, now working as a head nurse in a dialysis centre in Singapore. Since I am planning to join my brother in Vancouver, I need to get registered with RNABC. My application has been assessed and I would have to finish a psychiatric course before I can sit for the exam.. I have written to Douglas College which is nearer to my brother's house. But i didn't rec'd any reply since then. Can any one help?

Did you email anyone at rnabc to find out about it? I don't know what type of courses Douglas offers, but you could also try BCIT if you don't hear anything from them. I would just call Douglas and see what's going on.

I had the same problem with the RNABC 10 years ago, their communication is very slow and unreliable. As a Dutch RN I faced the same problem with my psych (not enough theory and practical hours). However I got around the theoretical part by adding up all the hours of communication and social studies included in my RN training (they accepted this) and I did the practical hours in a psych hospital in The Netherlands. This was much easier to arrange, since I knew the system. Would it be an option for you to do all this stuff at home? I know you are probably in a hurry to get everything done, but it might be faster to do it at home.

My advise with the RNABC is, call them (often) if you don't bug them, you will never get anywhere. I know it is expensive but if you are really determined to come to Canada, that's what you have to do. Good luck!

Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Marijke:rolleyes:

Hoi Marijke,

Take care, Renee
