Because we're so darn busy or exhausted we can't find the time to do anything about it!!
Also while there's a job freeze & more nurses than jobs (& note I say jobs not needed) it's their market! They have us by the short & curlies because if we don't want our job someone else will!

Yeah, but at what point do we say enough is enough.
On one hand they do have us by the short & curlies but on the other hand we are trained professionals who are intelligent logical thinkers - yes most of us old timers are burnt out, but if we don't watch out we are going to be in a worse state than the one we are in.
The NHS would not be able to cope if the experienced nurses stood their ground and said enough is enough.
New grad nurses or overseas nurses just could not run the wards/departments as they should be run.
I think most decent people are so fed up with this government, that they would support us.

Unfortunately we,in this country,do not have a very militant history and the government play on that knowing that most nurses, out of a displaced sense of duty, will not strike, maybe it should be the newer up and coming generation that now comes forward and shows their teeth and make the powers that be sit up and see that nursing is changing and that nurses are not doctors doormats any more and that our scope of practice and responsibility deserves a decent wage.:angryfire
