Can I get student Visa?

Now that I am pretty sure that there is no way for me to file for EAD - can I get a student Visa for a full time program? RN to MSN ? How does that work? Call the College or University directly? I mean I just do not want to waste any more time with sitting at home.

Thanks

Yes, of course. Unlike F2, H4 can participate in study, either full-time or part-time. You're free. Just submit your application, study as you wish, and wait your PD to be current.

Thanks for your reply, but what about clinicals? Is that considered "work" or can I do that with H4?

are you already a nurse? have you previously finished a nursing course? they might ask questions as to why you want to take another rn course if you already finished one. im asking bec you were talking about ead already.

Kalayaan,

I want to do a RN to MSN . Yes, I am R.N.

Back step a moment...............Where are you in the scheme of things as far as your processing?

You may attend school full-time on the H-4 visa............no problems at all with that.

But you are also forgetting one important fact.................where you were born.........all petitions will be held up initially; but then from the other countries, Europe inlcuded, will proceed actually fairly quickly.

if you want to get in a MSN program, from what ive been reading most schools require at least a years experience. if you are a USRN then i think you can still file your EAD within the next 2 weeks so you better hurry.

try volunteering in hospitals while youre now doing anything. there are postitions available where you can help out nurses.

You cannot file for the EAD if the petitions for I-140 and I-485 have not been submitted. Nursing experience does not have to be from the US and this nurse qualifies for the MSN.

And there aer not two weeks left to file for the I-785. As soon as visas are no longer current, everyone initially gets put on hold, and they will not be current at the end of the month. Any day now, USCIS will put out a posting that they are no longer current and will not be accepted from that time. Only I-140s will be accpeted but that will not do anyone any good without the other petitions being able to be accepted.

Hi Suzanne,

Things look bad right now.

I applied for jobs, also I have a connection to HR in one of the Hospitals but I think nothing will be quick enough for AOS. I am European.

The other thing is the MSN : I have major problems with the credentials as they all wnat the transcripts etc. I contacted CGFNS ( they got everything for this CES) and asked for a copy but they son't send it to me. The problem is that nobody can tell me what courses I might habe to do or not without proper evaluation. Do you think , it is best to send everything to WES.org and ask CGFNS to summit my transcripts etc. to them in order to get a full evaluation?

I am not sure at this point how I will be able to finance the MSN without being able to work her in the US.

At this point I am a bit hopeless and think that I will apply and see if I can get hired. If there are no numbers left and nothing is clear I probably will go back to Europe for a couple of months to work there ( but I will have to leave my kids here in the US) to get an update in nursing practise.

One person told me that b/c I have not worked for 2.5 y I should do a refresher course here. It seems that my chances are not that good in MA anyway .

My husband's employer filled out paperwork to extend his H1B -- so I can't see that he will get a number for permanent residency soon -- and if I can't get a work permit on my own - I am stucked. H4 is one of the worst visa anyway.

My options are not that good at this point and to be honest - I have no clue what to do now.
