Hello everybody,
I am a graduated midwife from Morocco, I just came to Virginia state. I brought all my transcripts and my diploma. I evaluated my transcripts and their answer was that it is equivalent to an associate degree in midwifery. my problem is that here in Virginia they don't have midwives, they have either nurse-midwife or nurse. midwives exists only in new York and some other states.
I would like you to advise me to do something so I can make a step forward. and let me know if I have to start from the beginning or what exactly. thanks for your help.
You are correct. Certified Midwifes (CM) are in states like New York or New Jersey. Also, Certified Nurse Midwifes (CNM) would require you to be a nurse and to obtain a Master's.
However, Virginia recognizes Certified Professional Midwifes (CPM). This is what you need to research.
I don't have much more information, but I hope that helps to lead you in the right direction!
Salam Zineb,I have a quick question.my sister haes the same situation.she is coming to the USA soon sh is a midwife.is there any advise you can help with?
I would not wait for a response as this member has not been to all nurses in over 18 months. Is your sister a nurse midwife? Will she have work rights?
