Hi all!
I trained as a midwife in Ireland and worked as a registered midwife for 2 years and as a fertility nurse for 10 months before moving to Canada. I can't get onto the midwifery bridging program yet so I'm just looking for other areas that I can work in. Does anyone know if it possible for me to register as an LPN? I filled out the National Nurses Assessment Service application for LPN for international nurses but I don't want to pay the $700 fee if there is no chance of me being approved.
Any information that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

LPNs are nurses that have completed a 2 year diploma program. Midwifery is not the same. LPNs have studied adult, peds, OB and mental health nursing and you would need to have completed theory and clinical hours in all these areas.

Thread has been moved to the Nursing in Canada forum since the topic is specific to becoming an LPN in a Canadian province. Good luck with your career.

It is difficult to say whether you will meet LPN requirements as decision is based on your transcripts. I do know of some that were required to do some courses for RN but did get permission to go the LPN route and passed the LPN exam
