The Interim Permit (IP) allows new graduate nurses to work as RN's while thye wait to take the NCLEX.

An Interim Permit is a temporary license that allows you to work under the supervision of a licensed RN while you wait to take your test and waiting for the results. From what I understand though, is that you can only apply for it when you apply for your BRN licensure, which is BEFORE you are even able to take the NCLEX exam. So, I don't believe you are able to apply for it anymore. If you want more info though, you can visit the BRN website: http://www.rn.ca.gov/

Hope this helps!

Also to add if out of the country at the moment now way to stay in the US with IP and expect to adjust your status as no visas due to retrogression.

Sure Suzanne will be able to explain more clearly

Sooooooooo, I will graduate in December '11. When should I apply for the interim permit? I need to get working as a nurse ASAP and take my test ASAP. What needs to be bundled in order to apply for this?

you will need to graduate school first, as you will need verification/approval from your school.

Yes I know I need to graduate first. I'm asking exactly what do I need to get from my school, how to apply, and how to do it.

License applications are on the BRN website. There is a specific question for you to answer that you want to receive an interim license. They also tell you the extra fee. Right on the application.

I would also add that its an extra expense that is good if you have a job already lined up, otherwise as a recent graduate I found it useless because no one was hiring new grad's with IP's they wanted you to have your license first. I applied even to jobs that said they would consider IP's and then was turned down for lack of RN experience :( Its a tough market out there right now for new grads

Hello every body,

i am a foreign student and live with my husband in California. We are from Germany. I have F1 visa and my man has F2.

If I get my interim permit, can I apply a visa for my husband too or he must come back to Germany?

Does any body know about that?

Thank you.

Assa
