I got an email from a fellow alum with the URL in it for ebay items described as the actual items from tests for our college exams.
I reported it to the college, as had she. Then I reported it to ebay. And then I sent a "question to the seller" and had some fun with that (see below).
But one or two voices aren't nearly enough.
May I suggest that, in support of professionalism and honesty, whether you are an Excelsior student or alum, or just care about the quality of nursing education in general, if you have some free time, go to ebay and search on "Excelsior College" or "NC" (the abbreviation for our exams). If you find items that are described as actual questions from exams, or that sort of thing, that you take a few moments to let the college know ([email protected] will work) and complain to ebay? I referred to the items as "stolen property" because they belong to Excelsior College. Period.
I also had a great deal of fun sending a "question to the seller" wherein I described just what I thought of someone who cheats like that, what I thought really ought to happen to him, and that I had reported it to both the college and to ebay. The dope had even listed some little town in Louisiana on his ebay site.
I did get an answer. Another one who apparently thinks I am male. (What a hoot.) Threatened me! Ha! Bring it on, Dufus, bring in on......
So, who'll join me? Who will take a few minutes, search ebay, find these losers and report them to ebay and the school? It's really very satisfying. Sort of like "riding the range" and "roping up the bad guys," cyberstyle.
Greetings, This is my first post. (2nd one will be at the Introduction/ Greetings as recommended.) I'm in total agreement. It's outrageous that sellers CLAIM to have the ACTUAL Compiled Q and A's. I wrote to one seller ( feedback of 71, from Mission Viejo, California.) who persisted in declaring what she was selling is acceptable, and she had never HEARD about the EC policy. QUOTE ' However the student does it to pass his test is none of your concern.'
I quoted the EC honesty policy to her. She continued to list then as THEE ACTUAL tests. So of course, I wrote to Excelsior College about her in September. She is now 'not a registered user' as of beginning of Dec. I guess it takes awhile. I wouldn't want to work next to her!
I am taking my EC NC3 soon, and it IS hard. I want to grasp, understand and digest all the info. I wouldn't want a trained test taker to tend to my medical needs. Hopefully the rest of the sellers will be removed too. Here's another outrageous listing. THis auction number even uses the Excelsior LOGO in their auction! 4510884322 . Guess it's time to write to EC again ?
I imagine, much like the publishing companies, anyone can sell information, unless they claim it's the actual tests, I think they will be able to continue.
GOOD for you CHRIS.. ( she's a girl) Good OP. I had to register, just to finally speak here. I was lurking for months!

Welcome, Sparkle! I read your post just before going to bed last night. Slept better than I have in a while! Very nice to find another kindred spirit, in many ways. This link now goes to a site that says NO EXCELSIOR ITEMS FOUND
Hi Spazzy, Chris, Ratched, Shel, & CC NRS, Our work is not done yet!
If one searchs ebay for excelsior test* ,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2228&item=4510884322&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
I get 4 items.
This number auction: 4510884322, even has the Excelsior copywritten Logo pict on his auction. Grrrr Dishonest. I'm also upset that it's going so cheaply! This is a valued education, no wait,, That means, EC students are NOT BIDDING on it! Hurrah!
I believe it's illegal to say ACTUAL EXAM questions and answers. They could say similiar questions, Or these are the notes I created and used to pass ______. They can not say 'ACTUAL or EXACT questions and answers'. They can't say, 'compiled by testers after sitting for the exams'. They certainly can't use the Excelsior Logo to sell a product. Wrong, wrong, wrong!
There is another seller ( misplaced Rudolf's toys, not actual name, but close to it) which misrepresents their auctions too.
I feel very protective of MY EC. Well, off to study, so many distractions, so many dogs to pet! I need to set a timer, One solid half hour to study, then allow myself to do something else. ie. Dishes, dirty clothes, lurk here ( as a reward), then back to my timer, and review.
This system works for me. See you later,
Sparkle
I wrote to the person selling item #5943376161 and said the following:
Dear rudolph-island-of-misfit-toys,
are these actual EC test questions? if so, what a dream come true!
The seller responded with:
Basically, yes. But they are the questions and answers
with notes to prepare you to study. ;-)
