Not sure if you are still hoping to migrate to Australia, but if you are- you will first need to apply for a skills assessment from ANMC and will need an IELTS score of at least 7 overall.

I'm a registered nurse here in the Philippines. I'm interested in working in Australia. What are the steps that I need to do in applying like example in Melbourne? Please let me know the important details and requirements that I need to know and have. I already passed IELTS. What kind of visa do I need to apply? What are the steps? Thanks everyone!

First you choose which state you wish to practice. you said melbourne google the victoria board of nursing. apply for registration and then the board of nursing will reply back saying you need to undergo a migrant bridging program.

It is important that you process you application ASAP because most of the case officers in DIMIA will request the IELTS to be at least 12 to 15 months old in order for them to determine your english proficiency.

2. get application form from the state or territory you wish to work in

3. ielts / oet

4. bridging program

can steps 1 and 2 be done at the same time? sorry, i'm lost. :uhoh21:

ANMC verifies your qualification for immigration purposes not for licencing/Registration.

Get your licence (IELTS/TOEFL is required for licence application) first from any of the nursing board or council in Australia. With a licence, you are more likely to be considered for a position. To apply for a work visa, you must have a licence/registration and meet the rest of immigrations assessment criteria.

After obtaining work visa, if you then want to apply for Permanent Residency, you will need ANMC to verify your qualifications which ANMC will send directly to DIMIA. These information are available on DIMIA and ANMC websites.

Before a foreign trained nurse especially (Filipino) new graduates will have a license there is the Bridging Program that will be required.

The Overseas Bridging Program that she/he is referring to is the one being required by the State's Nursing Board. If you're a foreign nurse especially from the philippines and havent had the experienced working in other countries, the State BON will require for you to pass the Migrant Bridging Program.

The bridging program is the course / class that will test the qualification of the foreign trained nurse before they grant the license. It will not be so easy and everybody will have to pay for a certain tuition fee. Example in NSW 6000 AUD for 8 weeks.

Some foreign trained nurses will fail and others will pass. Those that will pass the bridging program will be granted a license and sorry for those that will not pass. This is how they assess a foreign trained nurse on the competency to practice nursing in Australia.

Competency Assessment is a different story of course if the foreign nurse will come from UK, New Zealand, Ireland, Singapore etc.

I am also interested in moving to australia when i graduate ....i dont know how to go about it and also are there usually any sign on bonuses available? How is the salary? Is it expensive to live there?
