  2. Hi Samira All I did in OCTOBER 2007 I sent my CV to the Hospital (st John of GOD hospital in Subiaco - Perth). I sent it directly to them. I got an e-mail a week later and I was asked to make time for a telephonic interview. So the interview was on the 23rd of OCT 2007 at 6am (south african time). After they asked me all the necessary questions they told me that I have the job and that they will sponsor me and my family on a 457visa. So they actually paid for 3/4 of the visa cost. However everything else I have paid myself!! I am sooooo excited and scared at the same time!! BUT I know that all will go well!!
  3.:pGOT MY REGISTRATION & OUR 457 VISA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sO WE ARE LEAVING ON THE 16TH OF AUGUST 2008!!!!!!!!! OZ HERE I COME!!!!!!:yeah::loveya::loveya::redpinkhe:saint:
  4. Hi I may be wrong....but according the NBWA the course takes up to 8weeks. There is a theoretical component + a practical one. The hospital can employ her as Patient care assistane while she is doing the course. The course info can be found on the following link: www.nurselink... Good luck to your sister in law. Vanishree (Ozinjune)
  5. ]Thanx for the response talaxandra ]So I guess Nursing has the same dynamics wherever in the world you are!! ]So I need to prepare myself and just work hard. I need to focus on the reason I am leaving this country (South Africa)!! ]Thanx again!!! ]vanishree
  6. Hi I was just wondering....how is exactly to work in Australia (private or public). The reason I ask is becos ....IF THERE IS SHORTAGE of nurses in Australia - then surely the work is hectic??!!! I say this cos in South Africa - we have a severe shortage of nurses (probably cos we are all leaving for better countries!) - and becos of the shortage the nurses that do come to work are RUNNING from 7am to 7om...sometimes only leaving the ward at 8pm!!! I hope the working conditions in Oz are better though!!
  7. Hi everyone!!! Ok ...please assist!! I have applied to the NBWA for registration. I was asked to do so by the Hospital in Perth that offered me an RN post after a telephonic interview!! They have sponsored the visa - 457visa which includes my family!!!!!:yeah: To help matters I did the IELTS - scores: Listening 8, Reading 8, Writing 7.5. & Speaking 9 - overall band score = 8:smokin: I qualified in 2003 (RN). I have worked in the ICU's. I am presently working as a Medical Advisor (office bound), BUT on weekends I work part-time at the TRAUMA ICU at one of the private hospitals. So I am still clinically nursing. Do you think that the NBWA will accept this and Register me - I really do not have the money to do the Bridging course....IF I DID have the money I would not need to move to Australia to make a better life for my kids and hubby!!:redbeathe:redpinkhe:heartbeat. I will do anything for them!! Please respond. Vanishree:bowingpur
  8. Hi I would still like to know if the "bridging course" also applies to South African Registered nurses who are wanting to be registered in Australia. I have applied to the Victoria Nurses Board and I am still waiting for a reply. Do any of you guys know whether Victoria will ask me to do a Bridging course?????
  9. hi [color=#00bfff]i agree partly with you. the reason being....is that the registration delays everything???!!!!
  10. Hi I am a South African RN. Do you guys know whether this "Bridging Course" applies to south African as well??
  11. GOOD DAY from Bright and sunny South Africa. I am new to this GREAT Forum. Anyway I am an RN with ICU experience (5yrs). I also have x2 Degrees ( B. Soc Science Degree + Hons Psych Degree). I was offered a job in the Neuroward in Perth (Subiaco), in October 2007. The Visa is a 457 long stay visa, which included my hubby and x2 kids!! So when the hospital sponsorship was approved the whole process began!!! Western Australian Nursing Board advised me that I needed to come over to OZ 1st inorder to do a Bridging course!!! Hosp manager advised send registration application to Victoria and then apply for Mutual Recognition once Vic gives me a Reg Number. Well this done, Vic now also tells me that I MAY have to do a Pre-Reg Programme in OZ ...MAY....They are still deciding!!!! In the meantime the Visa Dept says that they cannot grant my 457 visa UNTIL I give them a Reg Number!!! Please advise if there were any other south African RN's that needed to do this Programme ALL the way in OZ?? I have already sold my home and vehicles ...thinking that the registration/ visa will not be a problem!!!! Please help!!!
