Hello All! I'm a PreNursing Student who will be starting Nursing school(BSN) fall of 2016 I'm the type of person who likes to explore all avenues while working towards a goal. I wanted to find out about the NCLEX Ive heard some good and some horror stories about this test. My main concern is how many questions is on this test and how many question do you need to pass? Is the NCLEX is like taking a Drivers Permit test were they give you 18 questions and you are only allowed to have 3 wrong and the test will shut down on you after the third incorrect question? I know I have a long way to go but I rather start preparing myself so I know what to expect when the time comes. Thanks you to whomever comments

Hi, Alicia, and welcome to AN! :)
First tip, top of the list, CHANGE your userID! You would be well-warned to not use a real name to post information on a message board that you later might very well regret. Just a word to the wise
As for the NCLEX, the BEST tip I can give you on that is to read this forum, tons and tons and tons of information. But honestly, while I can totally undertand wanting to prepare ahead, it's REALLY too far ahead for you.....like YEARS too early!
Go ahead and look around, get comfortable, and see all the useful info you can use for your nursing school experience.
Good luck!

There is no set amount of questions for the NCLEX-RN other than the max and minimum amounts. There is a minimum you can get (75) and a max you will get (265) I think it is). And every test has 20 questions that are 'test' questions that do not help or hurt you. They are just questions put in that they are tyring out and possibly may use in future versions of the test.
There is a time limit as well. Again, I believe its 6 hrs.
Its a computer adaptive test so the computer will give you questions until it can decide if you pass or fail. Once it is able to do that, the test will stop. You can go to the site https://www.ncsbn.org/nclex.htm there they have a lot of info about the test.
My best advice about the test is learning how to answer an NCLEX style question. I bought an NCLEX prep book and used it as a study aid during my schooling. I used my notes from class, the text as well as the book to study for tests. As the poster said above, it is really early for you. Spend some time in the NCLEX forum and many of your questions will be answered.
Thank you for your advice and I will most certainly be Changing my name. I actually didn't notice it until now so Thank you! Yes I do understand that it's too early but I've been in the Medicak Field for 12 years with a lot of clinical experience and knowledge so for me it didn't seem to early to prepare ahead. I have only four basic classes to complete and then I'll be on my way. I guess all this excitement is coming from a longgggggg over due anticipation.
I appreciate your comment Thank you and I most certainly well!
