I applied for a job and thats what the ratio is. Does that sound right? Sounds like an awful lot to me.

I work alone at night also..with 500 inmates...4/1000 sounds really nice though! I come in at 1500 (for the 1st 4 days) then at 1300 (the last 3 days) that I work...a week on--week off schedule, after 16:30...I'm home alone...I do one med pass at 20:00 sharp...Go to the Maximum Housing Unit and pass meds there...then leave at 1:30--2:00 Am...depending when I get the scheduling for the next day finished...I take care of any emergencies that show up, while I am there.... I have wonderful Correctional Officers that take good direction, if it is a serious emergency. It's all about teamwork & using available sources. LOL

Ive been thinking about this. These posts have gotten me all excited about correctional nursing. Thanks fellow nurses.
