Hi Lisa, I'm from Ireland and also trying to move to spain to work as a nurse, I have already validated my license and am just looking for a job now. To validate your license you need to get in touch with "departmento de homologación y reconocemiento de títulos" in the ministerio de sanidad in Madrid, and to validate your license, you'll need a copy of your degree and official translation, copy of your american license and official translation, and a copy of your passport or DNI if you have one. It's better to in in person and hand in the documents, but if you're sending them by post, make sure the copies of your originals are convalidated by the spanish embassy, they won't accept photocopies convalidated by the police.
They got back to me pretty quickly, I got my license within a couple of weeks.
Getting a job is another issue, I've just entered into the "bolsa" to get a job in Madrid, there's a different one I think for every city, depends where you want to work, to get a job in the public health system, which is apparantly next to impossible. Still haven't heard anything from them, am looking at private hospitals now trying to find something.
Would love to hear how you get on, if you get any information about getting a job in Spain I would love to hear about it!
oh also, I forgot 1 thing, you have to send a copy of your transcipt from your university, and an official translation of it.. good luck!

Hello Neonstone:
I don't log in much but the information was useful. I still have not graduated . In June 2014 , If I pass the HESI EXIT EXAM.. failed my first try with a 780 need an 850 in order to graduate. Have 2 tries left.
So, after I graduate from school, next step will be to take the NCLEX. I have been reading about it being available in England and three other foreign countries. Still need to get more info.. it's $150 but first they need to give you an authorization code confirming payment of test and date test will be taken.. etc.. I am planning on opening my own busines.. home health care nurse in meditteraneo.. Alicante, Benidorm... my best friend and her husband live in Alicante, they have been there for 30 yrs they are from Holland.. and he states that he has connections to get me started in doing home health nursing . Will let you know how it goes..
What is the difference between homoglacion and reconocimiento? I was told that they are not homoglando titulos. How do they validate credentials? Would I have to take some sort of test over there? or they just go by transcripts and license obtained? Please let me know. Thanks. email is [email protected]

The cost once you have eligibility is $200 plus $150 because you are sitting the exam outside of the US.
The only test centre I can see for places near Spain is London UK
Locate a Test Center
Also you will need to meet state requirements before Eligibility will be give =n

Hi Jasmine33,
I am a nurse in Chicago, but I lived in Spain and I am interested to go back to live in Spain. Did you have to take any test to obtain your Spanish nursing licence? or was your UK licence just validated by Departamento de homologacion y reconocimiento de titulos?
