As I stated in another post, I'm new to ICU/CCU. I've got 10 years experience as a med/surg/peds nurse, but am totally out of my element at the moment. Anyone know any helpful sites or books to help me become more familiar with drips/drugs/vents and any other of this "new world"???

Go to http://www.icufaqs.org. It's a website written by a long time ICU nurse from Massachussets. You can print up all kinds of ICU things to know and there are specific files related to meds and vents. Good Luck!

nurse-lou..... thanks for posting that URL! It is a terrific site with a ton of useful information.
Thanks Nurse-Lou!!! Thats just the type info I've been looking for. I've always thought of myself as fairly intelligent, but all this info is blowing my little mind! Thanks again for the help.

hi, what exactly does a nurse do in telemetry?
sorry for the question...
Telemetry is monitoring a pt's rhythm but the pt is not connected to a bedside monitor. The pt wears a little pack and monitors in the ceiling pick up the signals and transmit them to the central telemetry monitors wherever they are located.
thanks nurse lou!

Plan to spend three hours a week studying for the next year. At the end of a year, you will be a very good ICU nurse. But, it does require additional study.
