Like many other filipino graduates, the CA BON told me I am ineligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam because of the whole concurrency issue. After much time and consideration, and inquiring at schools, I have decided to challenge the NCLEX-PN exam instead. Based on what I have read, some people who opted to take the LVN exam instead, were actually told that this was an option for them by their analysts. My analyst only suggested to me to take up my classes at an accredited school here in California.I would like to hear from people who were in the same situation, applied to take the LVN exam and actually got their ATT alread-- is there a chance that this could backfire on me and be told that I am ineligible to take the LVN exam as well? :/Where do I go from here?
belagee12 30 Posts Oct 10, 2012 Based on advice from others here on the site as well, I should opt for METHOD 3-- I should fill out my application and get my fingerprints done then send those along with the payment of $150 first, THEN call in to have my documents transferred? Should i just use the documents that i sent in to the BON and have them transferred, or just start a fresh new application? I'm paranoid that if i have my documents transferred somehow, some way they might add a note that I was ineligible for reasons such that...etc. then be told I cant take the LVN exam as well lolAnd what is that whole employment verification (part of the application) what do i do with that? I've never been employed as an LVN before (possibly a dumb question)

Like the Jr Admin already said, contact the BRN directly or walk in to their office in Sacramento and ask them first about your situation and you possibly challenging the NCLEX-PN. You would not wanna waste money like a lot of fellow Filipinos did, would you?If you really wanna stay in California and practice there while bearing in mind your ineligibility to take the NCLEX-RN I think the best route for you is to go ahead sign up for make up courses and then try applying again. OR choose from one of at least 13 states that are currently not considering concurrency issues for foreign educated applicants.Good luck!

Apparently you need to take a whole semester or year to satisfy the concurrency issue. Have you contacted the board yet?
belagee12 30 Posts Oct 25, 2012 I have tried calling the bvnpt time and time again, but unlike when you try calling the BON where you can just wait for an operator to be available, you have to re-try and call again if no one is available :/ which sucks, everytime I try to call in they are always busy, and going to their office in Sacramento isn't exactly an option for me at the moment

You may have to hang up if it rings too long, as they actually start the moment the work clock clicks to the exact time, really.

Good luck!
