Ineligible for rehire/HR

I turned in my resignation letter after attending a ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS (RCA) where I was told I wasn't performing safely at my job. Although I took accountability for my actions & apologized. That didn't take me anywhere! I was told to meet the following week at HR..I knew I was getting terminated So I beat them to the punch & resigned effective same day!

The problem now is every time I apply for a job they tend to call HR & find out I'm ineligible for rehire. I'm getting frustrated at this and wonder what can I do about this situation!

any feedback I greatly appreciate it...

Not much, really. Your last employer is entitled to consider you ineligible for rehire and report that to people who call and ask about you. Every potential employer is going to contact your previous employer. Do you have other previous positions that you left on good terms, that are providing good references, that might help balance out your most recent employer? How are you handling this situation in interviews? Trying to hide it from potential employers works against you, because they're going to find out, and then you look dishonest on top of everything else.

I'm not asking you to provide any details here, but, regarding the situation that led to your resigning your last position, have you identified the problem(s) that led to the situation occurring and have you taken steps to remediate whatever those problems are? Being able to show potential employers that you have taken responsibility for and learned from that situation and taken steps to minimize the chance of it ever occurring again is one thing that may help your situation.

Best wishes!

Thank you for your reply I really appreciate it... I've definitely learned how important it is to talk about the reason why I left my last job. It's very important to not hide what happened but instead to show that I learned from it. And that's what I did, I finally got a job last July after many failed interviews. Thanks again!
