LPN-BSN PhaseII CSM Exams Discussion

Nursing Students Indiana (ISU)

Published

Hi guys,

I thought it might be nice to have just a discussion on the exams for people who are currently in the process of taking them or done taking them that can give us tips on the four CSM Exams: NURS106(mental), NURS224(medsurg), NURS328(peds), and NURS330(obstetrics).

I need to take NURSmedsurg and Nurspeds still. I am anxious because I failed the peds and have to retake and take medsurg soon. I am really nervous because I want to make the November 1st deadline for the Spring 2013 program. The school has already recieved my application and now they are just waiting for me to finish these two CSMs. Do any of you know if they still give you more time even if you don't finish exactly by Nov.1 deadline?

Also, any tips on Peds and Medsurg?

Because ISU lost the California program and so many California students, ISU may be more flexible with its deadline.

Hi Puppskmm,

I heard about that and I'm sorry if you are negatively impacted.

Yes, I hope they are flexible with the deadline.

I'm trying to get everything finished by Nov 1st also. I took 224 today and just barely passed. I have 2 exams left to take - I'm hoping to pass them so I can start in January!

What was your opinion on peds? Was it a fair exam? I know 1 question on 224 wasn't fair at all - I asked my professor after I finished and she agreed. The rest were difficult but probably fair. Definitely should have studied ABGs more!

OB was okay i used college network.peds is the hardest but you can do it.

Hi Logan,

I'm taking peds this coming week sometime for the 2nd time and I am scared I won't pass it again. My opinion on the first peds was that I was missing some information because I didn't buy the module and used my own resources (ATI, Saunders, ExamCram) that I had from LVN school. There were a few questions that asked about topics that were in the module. I'm using the module now since you are required to purchase the module once you fail it. The questions themselves are not too hard, but the there is a lot of content so there is much to study. After peds, I only have med surg 224 left. How did you study for that one? Did you use the module?

Hi 2012RNJ,

Did you use the peds module from TCN too? Do you think it was sufficient to pass the exam just with the module? Are you the program now? If you are, how is it going?

Sincerely, April

I used my notes and book from my LPN med surg course. I haven't used any modules yet. I did find a 2007 TCN module on amazon that I'm using for peds; if it works well, I might spring for the OB module just to make sure I pass.

College Network Module for peds was really what helped passed the ped and about 5% studying from saunders.Focus on the module for peds as it covers all the topics needed.

logank622, Good job for passing without the module! When I took the peds without the module, I got low 70%, I was so close. This time I'm using the module so I'll see if it made a difference.

2012RN, thanks for the tip and encouragement. I really need it. I'll be taking the peds328 this week.

I passed peds with an 82. I used the TCN module from 2007 and it was actually a huge help. I wouldn't pay $500+ for it, but it's a nice reference. Now I just have to get through OB. How did your exam go, NurseK1m?
