Indiana State University Online LVN to RN program

Published

I wanted some information on this online school. I have been following this place for awhile and wanted to know if anyone is currently attending, has attended, or will be attending this online school. Thank You

I'm no expert and I'm doing the same research you guys are but what I learned from someone who did the BSN through Excelsior is that while ISU is expensive...Excelsior requires multiple trips to NY state so that's airfare, hotel..plus their expensive testing fees (I heard one test was $2K for a final exam that was a two day process..one mistake and you failed!).

Scared me off that idea...

I have tons of core classes finished and am thinking about going the ISU direction mainly because I don't want to retake my sciences (they are about to age out at 5yrs old).

If you only have a couple pre-reqs that were required to enter your LVN program...it may be smarter to attend your local community college (via online or in person) to get all the core classes you can before applying to ISU.

Why pay them the $300 per credit hour (basic class is at least 3 hours..that's $900+ per class) to take the basics? I mean I pay around $250 a class...and I take everything I can online from my local community college. It just doesn't make sense to jump the gun on this. It could be a very very expensive mistake to make.

I only need 6 classes before I graduate with my Associates...and I have my LVN. I was going to do the transition to a ADN (RN) 2yr program...but I have so many of the necessary pre reqs for my 4yr bachelors..I don't see the point.

Why not just make the leap.

I'm just trying to get a list of all the required classes for the ISU BSN program so that I can get every class I can completed before I apply and have them do a transcript analysis.

ladyinscrubs, how does your courseload work? I've submitted all necessary paperwork and looking forward to starting fall 2012. Four semester sequence or five semester sequence of classes. I don't see the breakdown by semester of courses.

Lady in scrubs;

Thanks for your posting. I am rejuvinated again having read almost all your threads. I am currently registered for the ISU program and in fact, I have completed one of the four exams in phase II. I was in a hurry to complete the exams that I rushed through the Nursing care of Adults and failed it the first time I took it and then I got discouraged.

I am encouraged again by your writings and the fact that you are so far gone into the program...I can't wait to get to transitions...do you have any tips as to how you were able to complete the four phase II exams? and how fast were you able to finsh them? Any study tips for these exams? and do you know anyone in the Fresno, CA area working on this program?

Do we have any ISU students in the Fresno, CA area that is working on the phase II portion of the program?

Hey!! I have study guides that helped me pass the challenge exams the first time!

M&M1985 can you help me with the study materials you used for the 4 challenge exams please...?

The only way you will get the ISU study guide with the objectives and areas you need to cover is pay for the exam. Once you do, the school will give you the website that has the info you need for the test. They keep this info to themselves and most people just buy the expansive study guides. What I did was answer each objective statement. This way I knew I covered the material.

They will provide you the info you need--breakdown by semester. The first is Transition and the assessment class. These can be taken separately or together. Next is Mental health (didactic and clinical classes). Then there is med surg and ???. Next comes research...after that I have to look at my notes. You can go to the course website and bring up the program. Remember, there are two LPN to BSN programs. One for California and the other for non-Calif. I can only speak about the Calif program...which is a little different from non-Calif program. The Calif BON requires the Calif students take only one clinical class a semester. This makes the program longer for us in Calif.

is kennedy global school accredited nursing school and an on-line program?

Ladyinscrubs;

Thanks for answering my questions...I will call them on monday or email Ms Clayton to see if see can send me the webpage for those objectives. I have paid for two of the exams already but didn't receive anything but a go ahead to test with my proctor. I am still studying though for Nursing care of Adults and child and family.

O by the way...I used to could see my grades before I called to have my admission changed to fall 2012 since I did not complete the challenge exams before the Nov 1st deadline and now I can't even see my grade. I am not sure if since I now deffered my admission if I would be able to test. Any clue about what I should do here?

O...I am also in California and in the Fresno area...do you know anyone also in the program in this area? I am trying to find a partner now especially before the clinical areas.

it appears to be in the philippines. on its accreditation page, it has an nln logo, but it is an affiliate member of the nln, not accredited by the nlnac: http://www.kennedyglobal.net/aboutus_accreditation.php. red flag: not a *.edu website.

this page says they're recognized by the "u.s. board of nursing" -- http://kennedyglobaldavao.com/ hahaha. which board is that? it appears its students are taking the nclex-pn in texas. appears to have a nevada office but is not a licensed program according to the nevada bon site (or the texas bon site, for that matter, but texas doesn't list programs not resident in texas). i'd be curious to see where these students are taking the nclex-rn, as the first site claims they can. bottom line, though -- not a u.s. school, not regionally or nationally accredited by any u.s. accreditation bodies.
