moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html
we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!
The online courses are the same course as the students on campus. .
Rivers posts have discussed the length it takes from beginning to graduation. Have read 1.5 years, others 2 - 3 years; that is fine, but what does that mean in dollars . Lots of discussion about ISU but I have not seen a discussion about the semester cost and average cost for the program. As a non traditional student who must balance study, costs, working with the costs of supporting a family
, this is an important question for me.
1. What does each semester cost (or does one pay by the year).
2. What is th 'normal' load for a DL student per semester.
3. Is the 'normal' load considered full time or part time?
Knowing the difference in $'s from a 1.5 year program study to a 3 year program study would be helpful.
Thanks and keep up the good work :heartbeat
Indiana State looked really good at first, but the problem is the length of time. I just got off the phone with their adviser and she said that they only offer 2 nursing courses per semester so just the BSN component would take a year and a half. I can do it much faster and for the same price by just continuing on with Excelsior. Unless I can get into one of these ASN-MSN/FNP programs, I'm probably just going to do that, especially since I can start with EC right away.

I don't know how much per unit but I am taking 14 units this semester and tuition was around $3600, clinical fee $300, and books $300 (rented 2 books). My total cost will be around $18000 for 2 1/2 years, if I can take a nursing class in the summer. There isn't a normal class load, it depends on each student. Some of my classmates are taking 1 class and others are taking 3 or 4. For CA students it takes longer because we can only take 1 clinical class per semester and there are 6 classes with clinical. Hope this helps.
Regarding tuition for California...
I spoke with ISU this week and was pretty bummed to learn that their fees recently went up for CA. They sent me a link to calculate what my fees would be, since everyone completes a different amount of prereqs:

and for clinical fees

Chosen, did you try eBay.com? I just searched on "college network" there, and I see CSM 1, 2, and 3, all ending very soon with no bids. I think that might work for you. Good luck!!
