Practice writing clearly, use no text or abbreviations, practise speaking it all the time. Watch/listen to English speaking programs/movies/radio stations. Hospitals will expect people to have reasonable English skills and will probably enhance your job opportunities.
Practice is the key, plenty of practice
hi,
i am an Indian nursing student, graduating next month and i am agree with all other members, yes in US hospitals we need to speak and write in English.
So first thing i will suggest English class, and if you dont know the spellings, use a dictionary but do not use abbrevations.
Secondly, i will say do not worry that where you will work, just worry about NCLEX first, that is a big hurdle.
For your credits, check CGFNS.com, they will get your nursing degree and other educational records from India in order to evaluate them. That procedure will take 3-4 months, and they will send the Credential Verification to the state where you planned to take NCLEX.
so contact CGFNS for Credentials Evaluation Servic and you have to pay for the evaluation.
Yes NCLEX is very hard exam, superficial study is not worth especialy if somebody is not graduate from USA so work hard. Get Saunders book and CD or take Kaplan class, and go to NCLEX forum for more answers.
Best of Luck, if you have more questions feel free to ask.

i think with the current climate it is a case of get a job and experience under belt and if not the place you really want to work move around until you get there
We also ask that clear English is used as this is good experience as good English will be expected in the hospital documentation with only hospital agreed abbreviations
