Incompetent advisors at your school?

What is wrong with these people? I sent my school another admission checklist today because my residency status changed and I wanted my checklist to reflect in-state (people are accepted into the program based on their residency status). Anyways, Checklist #2 came back with a note stating that I needed to submit my high school transcripts. Something I have already done and was signed off on Checklist #1. I should mention that the two different checklists were reviewed by two different advisors. So why can one advisor see my high school transcripts and the other can't. After being on the phone with the school for a half an hour is was brought to my attention that advisor #2 didn't realize the my high school transcript was under my maiden name. HOW STUPID ARE THESE PEOPLE? My admission to the program depends on their ability to do their job properly and if they are too incompetent to do their job, how the heck am I supposed to get in...? This is such a stressful process and it makes me feel even worse when these kind of things happen. So, I said a prayer for them, because they clearly need it. I realize that we are all human and we all make mistakes but I have a really hard time with people who can't do their job properly. The lady I spoke with on the phone said to send the checklist back with a note stating that my transcripts were under a different name. Problem solved? Sure, I guess. But this whole checklist thing is only step one of 2 for our schools application process. I just hope they don't keep making huge oversights.

Anybody else having problems with their school?

If you get denied to a schools nursing program do they give you a reason why? Such as lack of proper documentation? I can't imagine not getting in because of THEIR stupid mistakes. What a joke.

Take a minute, take a breath, and let the anger go. Remember the great mantra, "Trust but verify." And good for you for coming here to vent INSTEAD OF at the folks in the admissions office.

I hate good schools with sucky administration. Usually they give some kind of generic answer such as "your academic records were not..." and things of that nature. The only problem with the admission's thing is that if you don't submit all documentation, your app is incomplete and therefore not rejected, you just never hear back from them.

Very frustrating, I am sure. I would probably be feeling the same way. Just remember, like you said, they are human and there will ALWAYS be times when it will appear that each and everyone of us has not done our own job properly. Sometimes people have bad days and overlook things . Sometimes things happen that are not the person's fault, yet they get the flack b/c of the way it appears to those on the outside. Just keep up on your application process as much as possible and hope for the best!! Hopefully you won't encounter anymore problems and be starting your program soon :)

I feel your pain and it doesn't get any better. Keep a copy of everything you turn in so when they ask for it the second, third and fourth time you can stick with the required information. Each semester I have to make a copy of my insurance card (health) a copy of my CPR card, a copy of my computer modules, and my current TB test, now for the kicker. My TB test expires in mid June, since I was registering for Summer in April I had to have one that didn't expire during my clinical (1 Year), so I had to have one then, and guess what since this one ends next April I'll have to have another in Oct/Nov to register for Spring. ARRRRGGGGG!!!

I know it can be frustrating, but like the others have said - Take a deep breath!

You've received some good advice. Keep a copy of all your documentation, and keep following up. But remember, the admission office has hundreds (if not thousands) of people applying to the school. It's got to be frustrating for them too. (I certainly would not want that job!)

The problem is that I have several copies of everything they need, they have copies of everything they need, and they STILL manage to make mistakes. Good school with sucky administration is a perfect way of putting it. I have met far too many people at my school with problems with the administration. How are they ever going to fix their problems if nobody confronts them? I am perfectly capable of confronting them in a professional/respectful manner. If nothing else I want them to fix my records/files. There should be ONE file for every person with all of their transcripts in all of their names and any other documentation. It's NOT that complicated.
