Am working in a small rural hospital (app. 125 beds incl. ALL depts.). We are in the throes of a unionization battle with management. Mngmt. is using the Kentucky River ruling ( blah, blah, blah - ALL nurses are supervisors and cannot join a union according to NLRB laws.) Any body out there having similar probs or has any one had a smoother ascent to union status than we are having? We're not giving up on this, just a little frustrated at times. Many Thanks!!

I thought that you had to be a salaried employee to fall under the ruling. Maybe I'm off base, but for some reason that is stuck in my head.

I live in Ks. near the Ok. border. Are you in favor of a union or opposed? I work in a couple of CAH (critical access hospitals). I am not in favor of a union of any kind. I would be interested in hearing the pros and cons of union. :specs:

Whenever the Kentucky River case has been used by management it has fatiled and the courts have ruled in the workers favor. Unionization is a long and hard fight, have been through it both successfully and unsuccessfully, but it is definetly worth it.

Emotions paticularly fear will be used by management to prevent unionization. There is also no law that requires administration to be truthful

Good Luck and remember you just need to last one second longer than management.
