In your experience, would ltc or hospitals be willing to hire a minor?

I'm 17 and I just recently passed the state exam so I am officially a CNA ready for hire. I turn 18 in November (a few months) but I would like to get to working before that. Have you ever seen an instance wherein a hospital or ltc hired a under-18 year old?

If your old enough to get your CNA certificate I believe you are old enough to get a CNA job. I have heard a few gals on these boards saying they started their CNA jobs at 16-17. I'd simply just start putting in those apps. Good Luck

Practically of my facility's 2nd shift are teenagers who fall between 16 and 18. They may want you more for weekends than weekdays. It's hard to tell.

The youngest person at my ltc facility is 18. Never seen anyone younger as a CNA, but it might be a state thing...

Specializes in Short Term/Skilled.

No one in my area will hire anyone under 18, but it could vary state by state. If your state allowed you to become certified, my thought is that it must be allowed.

Depends on the state. In my state one must be 18 to work in a paid position in LTC or hospital.

Every place I've worked over the years has specified a minimum age of 18 for employment.
