Impressive GPA but low TEAS

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone, I am really worried about the TEAS score that I got recently. The schools that I am applying for accept 70 and above for Teas. I got a 74. My Science GPA is 4.00 on 4.00 scale (which includes A&P I, A&P II, CHEM, MICRO) and I have an overall GPA of 3.73. I am currently an active Volunteer at Georgetown Hospital as well. I have an impressive resume and I was really hopeful that I will get into the nursing schools that I am applying for until i just got my TEAS. I studied for it for so long but I didn't get what I hoped. Even though I know I can retake it, I would not be able to send the scores because I have to wait 30 days to retake it, and my schools deadlines are coming soon. Should I start applying for different schools/programs and not be hopeful? :( I'm so scared.

You should be applying to other schools even if you have all perfect scores on those tests with a 4.0 overall GPA. No school is ever guaranteed, no matter how perfect you look on paper. I'm sure you're going to get into at least one of what you applied for with that GPA, but it never hurts to set up backup plans.

I agree. You should be applying to multiple schools regardless of if you think you have an amazing shot or not.

And it's hard for us to answer you because you don't know your school or its general standards. What is good for one school may not be enough for another. You can try to search on this forum for program-specific threads that discuss it or on the program's website to see if they might share the average GPA and TEAS score of those accepted to the program.
