Hi everyone I applied online on July 5 2017 for a business visa subclass 600 for the bridging program. Had my medicals done on the 16th of July. In my account it still shows "assessment in progress." As stated on the DIBP website it would only take 8-16 days. I'm already worried about the visa. Has anyone else had the same experience? Thank you.

Hello Guys,

Just wanna know you thoughts here. After AHPRA successfull registration, is it better to look for a Hospital that could sponsor for Temporary Work skilled visa or it's smarter to just apply for Skilled independent visa which can give a PR status? Anyone applied directly to Skilled independent visa? Did it took about 14 months including ANMAC assessment?

How about Temporary Work skilled visa? How many months including job hunting and visa application? And how long till we can apply for PR while having Temporary Work skilled visa?

I'm confused on which path I would take. Any insights based on personal experience?

Thank you!

This decision is greatly based on your preference. There are however, factors to consider during these phases. I've been reading long enough on multiple forums and have formulated a plan of my own. Let me share this with you.

I did my BP last Sept -Nov 2016. During this time, I was testing the Australian waters for job opportunities based on my skillset. And boy, was I surprised. I got several calls on my 3rd week of BP and they basically just setup you up for an interview and thats pretty much it. Now it's up to you to choose. This is the employer sponsored or 457 visa path. The downside to this is you can't choose which state or city you go to (for work). This again is something to consider if you have enough experience on a certain field as job hunting from an entry level can be really tough. There are of course hospitals and aged care facilities who continuous to sponsor nurses from the rural and deep ends of Australia.

Now there are also people who always go for the PR 189 or 190 scheme which is a permanent visa, lets you stay and work anywhere in Australia and of course allows you to stay as long as you want. Now this was the initial choice I had in mind. (Mainly because I want to stay and work in WA). A friend of mine who I had the BP with went for the PR 189 and got his in April 2017. This was 4 months after getting the registration. He had 70 points in the EOI. Another friend of mine has been waiting for a year, also had 70 points during the EOI with 10 years exp. The point is, every case is different. You can't really predict the immi's decision. I opted to go for the 457 route. I was sponsored by a hospital in QLD. Then after getting here, I filed for PR. This way, I'm working and at the same time waiting for the grant. You get to have a bridging visa once you filed and can use it when you're 457 lapses.

Good luck! I hope this answered a few of your queries.

Thanks for sharing dy3p. I plan to take my BP feb-may 2017. My husband and I are based in SG. I'm hoping I can take non-pay leave from my Hospital so that I could just continue to work after taking BP and take the PR 189 route (based on the processing times on ANMAC and immigration website now, it will take atleast 15 months combined). If not, I'll test if I could get an employment. By the way, for 457 route, can I bring along my husband and can he work?

If you don't mind, how many year/s is given on your work visa? And just to confirm, can we apply for PR187 straight away when we get there via subclass457 (say within 6 months) OR we need to wait till our work visa will get expired/expiring or perhaps do we need an endorsement from our employer?

Make sure you are updated with your chosen school's bridging program as some will start the 6 month bp from January of 2018. Yes, you can bring your whole family with you on a 457 with the same rights as you will have. Visa depends on how long its written in your contract. You can apply anytime for a 189 as it is an independent pr. You will have a bridging visa issued and will take in effect if and when your 457 expires.

Noted, will Thanks for all the info dy3p!

HI Everyone! I would like to ask for an advice. I will be taking up my bridging at Melbourne by January 2018. How long is the validity of the health insurance that I should purchase? would a 3 month coverage would be enough or should I buy for 1 year, since my visa will be valid for 12 months multiple exit entry? Also what company would be best? Thanks in advance!

It's really up to you and what extra covers you might need. If you are on a tourist visa, and thinking on only staying in Australia for the BP initially, then I think it's best to go for the monthly coverage or 3 months overtime you enter Australia. If you are however, planning to re-enter as soon as you exit for the whole year, then by all means, take the 1 year. The insurance policies can be changed anytime so you could actually purchase it weekly, fortnightly, month by month or on a yearly basis then call or visit a kiosk and have it ceased. There is no lock in contract (or at least, nothing I know of) with insurances. You can change different insurance companies if you wish to so as to comply with the DIBP requirements. For the companies, I'd google. :)

Hi,

Is there any way that we can apply for full working rights on a student visa while waiting for PR visa grant?

Hello everyone,

I will be processing my visa subclass 600-business stream.

Anyone who can share with me a sample of affidavit of support?

Thanks

Hello fellow nurses! Does anyone know if ANMAC considers being a volunteer as valid nursing experience as obviously no pays lips/tax contribution could be given as evidence? I'm trying to explore my options post BP.

Thanks heaps! í ½í¸Š
