So heres my story.. I am going to hopefully be applying to the LVN program at 2 different places next summer here in my area. So since I had about 13 college hours already I thought what the heck I would keep going to school until I got accepted if I ever did. So I decided to start taking AP1 and Med Term to see how much I liked this field or not.. well I HATE AP1.. I don't get it.. its soooooooooo much info to memorize and learn and I just end up wandering off into other things. How do I focus...I have 3 tests next week 1 for Medical Terminology and the other 2 is my first AP1 test over ch1 & 2 and my lab practical test. I need to memorize and learn the Body Cavities & subdivisions,Directional Terms in Anatomy, Organ systems and body parts.. posterior and anterior... and some combining forms for Med Term and other things.... any suggestions?

For motivation, can't help you there. You just need to decide whether you're going to do this or not. If not, then don't. If so, then do.

I agree with everything the pp said. Repetition is important. You are the only one who can motivate yourself...go somewhere by yourself and just sit down and start doing it...that is probably the hardest part of studying is actually making yourself do it!!
Good luck on your tests next week!!!

Well I would first ask do you hate AP or do you hate that its so much work? Are you working as well as going to school? have other things going on in your life to make it overwhelming? If the work load is too much you might be better taking your med term class then taking AP. Ap can be difficult if you don't have a minimal knowledge of biology or medical terms, or better yet, it would be easier with those things.
The work load for AP is tremendous especially at the beginning, once you get in a good routine I feel it lightens up. You have to really read before lecture, make flash cards, tons of memorizing, I think however, its good practice for the amount of work involved in the nursing programs. I remember my first week of AP I came home with an overwhelming feeling of yes this IS the right place for me, I loved it! It was hard work but I enjoyed learning about the things I know I will need to know for Nursing.
