I'm scared to death??????

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I found out, in order to be admitted into nursing school, I have to have a GPA of 3.7 and above. So out of 20 college classes that I need to take, I can only get 5 B's, anything more and I won't be accepted... Wt am I gonna do! I'm scared shtless!

I have to have an A in 16 of my classes!!!! Not only that, I got A.D.D and I when I was a baby, my parents laid me on the back of my head for long periods of time, so I got a flat head and it effected my brain, so now I learn slower than others...

Wow thanks mom and dad life is much harder

Fudge I'm gonna fail life, i need another job? But all good jobs that pay 50k plus require hard work and study.

Not all schools have such a stringent gpa requirement. You have two things to remember. If you want something bad enough there's always a way. And smaller schools have lower requirements. Keep looking. Rural programs, associate degrees, even going LVn/LPN to RN later are all options.

Oh, one more thing, breathe. =) This is your first test in a long line of them.

There are plenty of people out there who have disadvantages who manage to achieve beyond what one might otherwise expect. The difference between them and those who do not is that they accept and embrace their challenges, without blame, without excuses. They recognize they will have to work harder than others for the same results and then get on with the business of doing it.

I am sure if you want this, you will find a way to do it. Perhaps you will need to take your pre-req's one class at a time and take a little longer to get where you want to go. But it is do-able and very much up to you. You made it this far, didn't you?

You are overthinking things way too much. Many of us do this, so its not impossible to do well in classes. You are still in high school right? Just take things one day at a time right now. You are a bit ahead of the curve, in that you know that getting into nursing school is competitive and you've got to work hard. I don't think I had that insight in high school, when I went to college straight out of high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do and wasted a lot of time. Just relax. Speak to your parents and guidance counselor about your concerns, but as the poster above said, no excuses. Many of us have obstacles that we must overcome, we can't let them get in the way of our dreams. And from a past slacker with a stellar GPA now, its not impossible if you focus and work hard.

Wow, settle down first of all. Second of all, what does flat head have to do with not being able to elarn? am I missing something here? You're setting yourself up for failure by thinking this way. No one can succeed if they believe they CAN'T do it. So start thinking you CAN and you WILL! Good luck dear.

One course, one class, one week, one test, one day at a time. That's how you get through it. Study your butt off and do well.

As the saying goes....How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!

I have ADD, in my 40s and thought I was not smart enough to go back to school. I was told my entire life that i was stupid and because of this I had zero self confidence.

This past spring I graduated with my A.S. Summa Cum Laude, which means I have 64 credits behind me and graduated with a 4.0

I worked my butt off, but with each A I gained that much more confidence. I was denied by the first NS I applied to....but you know what.... it didn't matter, it had no impact on my self confidence, at all. I have the grades and the school just lost out on a hardworking, dedicated student. I went onto plan B and am applying to another University this spring.

Don't let anyone tell you that you can or can't do something, what you do or do not do, is entirely up to you. If you work hard, apply your will, you will succeed, even if there happen to be bumps in the road. And I'm sorry...but the flat head thing is an excuse. You are an adult, time to look at the goal, say to yourself I will do what it takes, and take responsibility for the outcome.

Stop looking at what you can't do and start looking at what you CAN.

Good Luck!
