phil... i'm testing next week. on the kaplan exams, i've been scoring 55-65 range every time. My friend consistently scored in the hi-50's and passed nclex recently. I would like to be scoring higher, but from what ppl have told me, this range still gives you a strong chance of passing. That being said, every point counts so i'd not be discouraged and just keep your eye on the prize. There's a good chance you could pass the nclex right now, but the more effort you continue to make, the higher the probability of success... good luck. i'm testing in 5 days.. i'll let you know if my 50's and 60's translated into nclex success!

Hi Phil-RN!
You're not alone. I am on the same boat. I am doing Suzanne's Plan and I'm on the second tip now. I think I have read most of Saunders book but everytime I come back and do a practice test, I always end up with a satisfactory score, well i fact I should be getting higher that what I expected coz I have encounter the test many times. I also don't know what will happen on my exam, I am taking it in less than 4 weeks time.
What I am doing is keep on practicing test. I said to myself, there's no way that I can remember everything, but I know that I've prepared so much for the test. I've done my work and my fair share, and God will provide the rest.
Good luck to us!
tnx for your advice..im just so worried of my scores,.i just feel everything isnt enough my scores is not that quite satisfying for me.. should i repeat reading content (saunders)? or just move on practicing questions everyday..? also alternate questions like- arrainging steps and select all that apply qs worries me too, most of the time i get wrong..should i expect many questions of this type at nclex?

At the nursing school I atended the teachers stressed to us not to take our boards until we could consistently 30 days in a row get 80% or better on a 100 question test.
That is really difficult. I really didnt start preparing for boards till about 20 days before my actual test date. I took ATI content tests to see where my weak spot was, then I targeted my Saunders/Davis disks questions to those weak spots. After about a week of doing 200+ questions a day I was getting between 75/85%. I typically have a hard time sitting still so I rarely took a 100 question test, for some reason I would rather take 5-20 question tests in 1 sitting. That way I was getting in the 100 but seeing a score 5x vs just once.
I would then look through the rationals for every single question. I would read all 4 of the rationals for each question. I felt like I was getting 4x the studying done by doing that.
One tip I have for you is if you dont really know the question, then read the answeres sometimes you can throw out a choice just because you know the response has to be wrong. EX: would you ever tell a patient to take a "brisk" walk after a meal???? no..so ditch that one, now you have 3. You can probaly narrow that down to 2 and then just go wtih your gut instinct, dont flip flop back and forth.
I wish you luck, I can not stress enough, to take as many at home practice questions you can a day. I like you could only afford to take the test once. Practice questions at home are free!! and READ READ READ all the opening chapters of your Saunders/Davis/Kaplans/Mosby what ever Nclex books you have- they give great advice on test taking... I wish I would have read those chapters during school.
im so stressed out.. i hop i can have more high scores than low ones.i ve been practicing everyday ..ive used saunders, lacharity, nclex incredibly easy cd and lipincot cd..

Think of it this way. After 3 or 4 months out of school what you lose is going to be more than what you can learn in any review book. Because of that no matter how bad you think you're doing, you'll only hurt yourself more by waiting more than 3 or 4 months.
The chances of getting the same questions are slim to none. Focus on the rational whether you got the question right or not.
It's about training the mind to look at a question and think rather than to know everything.
Good luck.
tnx for all your replies :) i really value your advices..tnx for your time..if you have other advice for me, tell me..tnx!
