It took me sometime to organize on how to study for nclex. I studied using Suzanne's plan and it's really great. it will take sometime but it's worth it. It's also free!(thanks Suzanne!). It's a very systematic way of studying and it works for me. If you can access at least do Kaplan Q-Trainers specially the rationale. It is somewhat similar to the actual test. I studied Pharma at least 2-3 hrs a day on my last week and make sure you read a lot about infection control/delegation and prioritization/ABC's and Maslow's (i used Saunders) as your last bits to refresh your memory. Always visit this site coz this can be your friend, adviser and teacher. there's lots of tips on this site that you can gather. Good luck on your exam...

what are the materials that you used? saunder's comprehensive. kaplan strategies, ati, tips from suzanne, kaplan trainers. 2. how many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day? 100-150 questions a day. 3. how many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam? 6 months before the exam, but more concerntrated on the last 3 months 4. what are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam? a. abc b. maslow's c. prioritization d. wise guess 5. take one or take two? take 1 @ 140 questions

you have to seek Suzanne's assistance to approach Saunder's book properly. she can give you tips. Check her sticky tread.

i scored low on my kaplan trainers between 50-60%. my ATI predictor is also not brilliant. but i admit that i've tried 5,000-7,000 questions before i sit for my exam. i never felt confident and i was in a state of shock and in tears when i left the test center...but in God's grace, I passed the NCLEX. i think you should have the motivation to do your best. i took my exam secretly without even telling my friends. but i've done my very best to study and i succeed in the end. you only need a little bit of confidence, and more prayers!

I would recommend saunder's comprehensive book for studying. It summarizes the Nursing training we had in one book. approach it like Suzanne's plan. Kaplan strategy book is also good. If you can access the Kaplan Q-trainers, it will help a lot. I passed my Nclex with flying colors using those materials. Good luck!

i posted this months and months ago. i passed my NCLEX first time last March and I have encountered so many Pharma questions. I am glad I studied the medications in categories...it helped me a lot. Good luck to the future test takers!

other than the list stated above, i would suggest that the following is needed on the day of the test ...a little bit of knowledge ...a little bit of self-confidence ...and loads of PRAYERS!!!!! Good luck!

i am not a very good test taker. i score 50%-60% in kaplan and average on Saunders/lippincot and I failed Mosby's practice questions. nevertheless, I PASSED NCLEX with passing colors the first time! focus on the rationales. read them again on your last week. read on infection control (airborne, contact, droplet precaution) and prioritization guidelines. good luck on your test!

that's a good attitude! sorry to hear that you didn't made it but don't you worry...try to work out what went wrong and you'll surely pass next time. don't loose hope!

Not really, my scores in kaplan trainer ranges from 50-65% but i passed on my first try. concentrate on the rationales coz it will you help analyze why you they come out of the answer. i did 100-150 q's/day religiously on teh last 4 weeks. i concentrate on pharma 2-3 hrs/day on my last week. refresh your memory by reading infection control (droplet, airborn , contact precaution), prioritization and delegation (i used saunders as reference). if you can access kaplan, i suggest to go back and re-do them again if you have time. it will help. i stopped at 145 q's. 2 SATA, 1 calculation. lots of prioritization, delegation, infecrion control and loads and loads of pharma. It's difficult for us foreign nurses to adapt to US's NCLEX. but if you're determined to pass this test, you have to structure your study habits as early as possible. My suggestions: 1. Suzanne's plan (check her thread and PM her) 2. KAPLAN q-trainers (1-7) espicially the rationale. do this on the last part of your schedule. 3. Kaplan Strategy book 4. Pharma review using ATI book 5. Read on Infection Control/Delegation/Prioritization. Choose a date to test so you know how much time you can allot to study for the test. Good luck!
