I have the same name tag problem . . no matter what way I hang it it turns over to show the back all on its own.

So if we turn it on it's wrong side, will it flip over to the correct side? Point to ponder....

It must be a hospital phenomenon--way too many backsides showing up. :chuckle

Specializes in floor to ICU.

This is for patient's, family members, managers, administration, nurse aides and doctor's:

I am a nurse so remember that poor planning on your part DOES NOT constitute an emergency on my part.

Specializes in Education, Acute, Med/Surg, Tele, etc.

I am only a nurse, so if I can't get it done...go to the doctor with this! (while I leave the room with an evil laugh!)

I have never used the phrase..I am only a nurse! I say "I am your nurse and doing the best I can...if you have more concerns or complaints...I advise talking to your DOCTOR..since I go by what they say and am limited by what they order!".

I am just glad to hear I am not the only one suffering from this strange name tag phenomenon! And no, even if you take it apart and clip it the other way, it will still turn back to the back. Attached locker key or anything else that may be the culprit can be rehung to other side, and it still turns to the back. I work most often, thanks to my name tag "incognito"!

alright all you name tag flippers! has anyone ever flipped it on purpose, like with a particularly obnovxious family who threatens to sue everyone?

My experience is that those are the types who fix you with a death glare/dollar sign look and, with pen and notepad in hand, ask you how you spell your name, then repeat "and you're the -R-N?"

Well, play all the mind games you want, Lady. In the end, there's the door. We're a hospital, not a prison. :clown:

Oh even better than flipping the name tag, how about those boards on the wall opposite the pt's bed, where you write the name of the nurse for the day? How many times have you discharged a pt from that room, only to have some pt days later calling the nurse's station asking for you, but this is NOT your patient? The other nurses leave YOUR name up there just in case the pt has a problem! I have learned to erase my name at the end of the shift or at discharge. (Sorry, did we hijack this board?)

Specializes in Cardiac Care.

This poem was posted in the nursing station of the hospital where I use to work and it was really nice to read when you were having one of 'those' days.

I'm "Just A Nurse"

I'm "just a nurse."

I just make the difference between life and death.

I'm "just a nurse."

I just have the educated eyes that prevent medical errors, injuries and other catastrophes.

I'm "just a nurse."

I just educate patients and families about how to maintain their health.

I'm "just a nurse."

I just make the difference between dying in agony and dying in comfort with dignity.

I'm "just a nurse."

I'm just the real bottom-line in health care.

I'm "just a nurse."

I just make the difference between pain and comfort.

I'm "just a nurse."

I just make the difference between healing, coping and despair.

I'm "just a nurse."

I just work in a major teaching hospital managing patients who are involved in cutting edge experimental medical or nursing research.

I'm "just a nurse."

I'm just a professor of nursing who educates future generations of nurses.

I'm "just a nurse."

I'm just a long-term care nurse. I make the difference between staying in one's own home and going to a nursing home.

To the student nurses...don't you want to be "just a nurse" too?

Specializes in Geriatric, LTC, PC, home care, pediatric.

cook/waitress- we deliver food trays don't we? don't do the cooking part unless you work a small personal care home where you get pulled in to help with that part. ( Did that a few times)

And I am proud to say I am an LPN. Get VERY upset with employer, etc., saying I am just an LPN. I am not saying this to get anything started, I respect all that do the job, RN, CNA, HHA, etc.

Specializes in med/surg, day surgery, psych as a CNA.

I'm only a nurse, not GOD...
