As a nursing assistant, sheriff (LVN).

Its been a LONG process, about 2 years.

I've been a psych nurse for 3 years and all that hard work has paid off.

From the written, to the oral exam (placed in band 1 with a 100%), to the background to the medical it has been an exciting journey.

Thanks to this board for all the advice, I start orientation in September and I'll find out which jail and shift i'll be placed in.

My salary has been quoted and i'm more than pleased, any questions i'll be glad to help you out!

thank you so much that makes more sense. I was as honest as i can be and plus i have nothing at all in my background. btw did they make you sign the form that states they may place you in any location and put you in any shift? and if they did, did they still place you close to home?[/quote']

Yes, for the most part MCJ is where we need the most people.

My orientation class was 14, 12 of us at MCJ and 2 at TTCF.

But for the most part people who live out in Santa Clarita want to work out in WaySide or NCCF but end up in DTLA.

Specializes in ASC, OR.

How long was ur orientation?

MCJ would be perfect for me!! How about the hours/schedules? are they good?

sorry for ?'s

6 weeks 630-230p

Hi just want to get some info, currently I am going to do my background check and finger print. I was offered with a job as an RN, any news how long it takes? My fingerprint and medical is next week.

Youre pretty much at the end of the process, but it should take 6-12months to officially get in.

Goodluck!

Hi Psych LVN,

I’m applying for RN position & I received a letter stating that I passed my medical clearance & I should wait for Hiring dept to contact me. However, I found out that I’m pregnant after I had my medical clearance exam, & I was going to let them know, but I don’t know who to contact & I was going to tell HR/Hiring dept when they contact me. The letter stated that if there are any health changes (ex. Pregnancy), I should call this number. Since I got the letter over the weekend, I’ll call on Monday.

I know you’re probably not familiar with this matter & I should talk to HR/Hiring dept, but do you have any input on my situation? Do you think they will find any reason not to hire me because I’m pregnant? Any thoughts/inputs will be appreciated.

Thank you.

No youre good, just inform them.

We have had numerous preggo females working not a problem at all.

Congrats on the baby and joining us!

Thank you for your reply Psych LVN!

Hello Psych LVN,

I am applying for an RN I position. Little after 5 weeks of background check they called me for Medical exam. Do you have any idea, what kind of tests they run for medical exam and how dong does it take to get results back? After donning medical, how long do I have to wait for my orientation? Thank you

Hi, everyone!

I would like to ask working environment and stress level working in county jail for RN-I. Is it safe or pretty dangerous? Do nurses get pension after retiring? How good are benefits?
