"like i dont remember much from school,"
If I were you, I would study the basics on my own or through a community college until I felt comfortable with the LNL study guide. In the process, I would study how to learn as much as I studied the subject material - since the real goal is to get through the nursing program.
I don't know whether to recommend curricula or not. I guess I'll go for it. I would use the chapter tests in Rod and Staff's 8th grade math book as a diagnostic to see if I needed to work on any pre-algebra concepts (I personally did even though I had passed several college math classes). For English, I'd start with Easy Grammar and reading a book called "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" and with making a point to read more (doesn't matter what). If I was really motivated, I'd copy examples of good writing. Perhaps even read such examples into a recorder to play back so I could write the section and then compare my writing mechanics to the original.
