Hi all...I am in NJ and moving to AZ after graduation. I want to move to the Gilbert area...I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what do I have to do to take the boards there, what town?? Should I set this up before moving or once I get to AZ? I am so confused on how to go about this but think it would be easier to take boards in AZ then in NJ. Any good hospitals in the Gilbert area...want to go into OB!!!

You an physically take the NCLEX in NJ before you move. Just get your ATT letter from Arizona. NCLEX can be taken anywhere, it doens't have to be in the state where you weill get initial licensure.
The exam is offered in Pearson-Vue testing centers, you can just check on the computer to see which ones are in your area.

I moved right after graduation, also. I went ahead and applied for my license in the state I moved to and took the test in that state. There's usually a a couple of months that you have to wait before you test, so I guess it just depends on when you want to move. Also, you can get a job as a GN (graduate nurse) before you take your test, at least here you can. I think there's a hospital in Chandler (just next door to Gilbert). At least there used to be! There are several in cities close-by, so you shouldn't have any trouble! Good luck!:balloons:
Also, Arizona has a really good BON website. I bet you could find some info there. I just called the KS BON and they sent me the whole packet of stuff which I filled out and sent back. They sent me something back with my test site and date. If you just tell them you're moving to Gilbert, they should set you up with the nearest testing site.
The BON doesn't arrange for test sites, that is left up to Pearson-Vue.
Sorry, it's been awhile since I tested. I do know that once you apply to the BON you should get all the information you need to arrange testing.
ATT is no longer issued by the Board of Nursing. It is sent by Pearson-Vue once they have received your $200 and verification from your state that you meed the requirements to test.
Yes, alot has changed.

I'm in TX going to school, about to graduate next month. But I'm planning on moving back to AZ. All I had to do was go to the AZBON website and print out an application for licensure and send that in with the application fee. To print the application, go to the website http://www.azbn.org/ then "resources" up at the top, chose "applications", then click on "Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse by Examination". Print that out, follow the instructions and send the application in with your check or money order for the application fee.
Separate from that you have to apply for the NCLEX itself. You can go to the pearson vue website (http://www.pearsonvue.com) and apply there online and pay with a credit/debit card or you can do it by mail or phone.
That's where you need to start. Good luck!!
